一.“读整本书”的意思
与“现代外语教学强调语言学习的实践性,主张学生在语境中接触、体验、理解真实语言,并在此基础上学习和运用语言”、“整本书”不同,现代外语教学以英语名著、小说等整本书为教材
“读整本书”是基于一个“整”字,关注的是整体而不是局部,其内涵是整体的建构和整体的认识。
整体建构是学生阅读能力和阅读品格的综合获得整体认识是指学生对全书的思想内容、语言框架、各章之间的逻辑关系有整体的把握和全过程的意识。
二.读本选择和课程安排
学生的经验、思想、价值观都需要整体建构。
英语教材中的单篇文章反映了故事的某个片段或语言的某个节点; 整本书是故事全景式和语言体系的整体反映,而不仅仅是知识的片断阐释和个别情节的浅显阅读。
因此,必须认真考虑读本的选择、上课时间的划分等。
(一)读本选择
学生是阅读的主体,“阅读整本书”旨在提高学生的阅读素养。
因此,读本的选择应该以提高学生的阅读素养为指导,以下几点可以作为参考标准。 (1)突出学生主体,符合学生年龄特点、兴趣爱好、认知水平。 )2)突出课程价值体凯困悉系,以蕴含丰富价值观和人文信息的经典名著为主; )3)强调课程标准的关联度,只有以课程标准为基础,指向学生核心素养的读本才更有意义和价值。
基于多年的实践研究,笔者向学生推荐书目如下(见表1 )。
(二)课程安排
以The Little Prince的“阅读整本书”为例。
该书共有27章,进行一学年整本书的阅读,每学期约20周,每周1课时,一学年约40课时。
其中,导读需要14课时(每课时导读2章),剩余时间用于师生共读、研讨、讨论。
每周学生可以自读1-2章,第一学期读完整的书,第二学期重读。
因此,每周都要安排完整的课程进行“整本书阅读”,使学生能始终关注和思考“整本书阅读”的内容。
平时的一篇课上,不能处理“整本书看”的内容。 这样,学生就会过度关注、疲劳一篇课的内容,忽视“整本书”,导致“整本书”内容的支离破碎和知识碎片。
三、“读整本书”四个阶段
“整本书”的教学过程大致可分为“教师导读”、“学生自读”、“师生共读”、“学生重读”四个阶段。
在此,以经典名作The Little Prince为例,分别说明操作过程和注意事项。
(一)教师引领
教师的优势在于能聚焦全书的结构、情节框架、语言特点、人文价值、阅读方法等,激发学生的阅读兴趣,打开阅读思路,做到“准备好”。
(二)学生自己学习
学生自读是“读整本书”的重要环节。
只有学生能自主阅读,阅读素养才能真正提高。
学生只有体验自主盯乎阅读,在自主阅读过程中透彻理解故事,填写阅读笔录,整理阅读体验,才能形成“整本书”的阅读能力和素养。
调查显示,学生自主阅读时面临的最大困难尺茄是单词多,不能抓住重点。
要解决这些问题,教师必须传授和培养阅读的策略、技巧和方法。
(三)师生共读
师生共读是学生理解作品、体验语言的重要途径,可以加深学生对故事情节的理解,培养和发展学生对语言文字的敏感性,提高学生的阅读素养。
师生共读的基本形式是从篇章文本共读出发,设计一系列活动,使学生在活动中阅读故事、掌握语言、形成能力。
(四)学生重读
书读一百遍,自有分晓。
阅读过程中产生的新观点和发现,需要在重读中进行印证和验证。
在反复阅读的过程中,学生重新理解作品,构建新的认知,感受更细致的语气,思考更深入。
