Recently, our school has done a survey of students’ English reading situation, but the results are not pleasing.
Most of the students aren’t interested in reading. And they can find little time to read. They have too much homework. On the other hand, they can’t read in right ways. Besides, there are not enough suitable materials for them to read.

英语阅读常用的方法有以下几种:

(1)猜测词义

在阅读的过程中不可避免会遇到生词, 如果一遇到生词就查字典或忽略不看都会影响对文章的理解, 因此我们可以利用上下文中的同义关系、反义关系猜测词义根据整个句子的意义猜测词义以及利用语法知识、构词法知识等猜测来帮助我们来理解文章。

(2)略读

通过整体粗读,领略内容大意, 帮助理解, 为仔细的理解文章的内容做准备。寻找主题句, 获取大意, 找出每段的主题。一篇文章通常是围绕一个中心展开的。在进行阅读课教学时要有意识地培养学生找出主题句, 抓住中心, 使学生理解主题句与文章的具体事实细节的关系, 没有主题句的段落就引导学生依靠段落中的衔接、句际关系来分析、推断和概括段落的大意,从而达到整体理解的目的, 获得文章表达的正确的信息。

(3)寻读

即快速查找某一相关信息, 如年代、人名、地名、数字等做到心中有数, 对不相关的内容一带而过, 重点是掌握你想要得到的信息。

(4)细读

所谓细读, 就是要一句一句仔细地阅读, 抓住每一个细节, 注意语言结构, 处理语言点, 抓住主要事实, 关键信息, 揭示文章结构的内在联系, 帮助深化理解。一篇文章是一个有机的整体, 段落与段落之间存在着内在的紧密联系, 而每段的内容都与主题有着很重要的联系, 所以弄清文章结构上的问题,对于把握文章主题、文章大意非常重要。

(5)多了解英语国家的文化背景知识

文化背景知识对于正确理解文章内容起着很大的作用。因此, 教师应指导学生多读各类相关的书籍, 材料是最可靠最丰富的文化背景知识来源, 尤其是那些包含着丰富的文化内容的材料和短篇小故事。同时, 让学生观看一些英语影片, 尤其是介绍外国文化的短片。在教学中, 教师也要引导学生从习惯的英美文化背景中来学习语言, 否则学生表达出来的英语语言则是不规范的Chinese English。总之, 让学生尽可能多地了解英语国家的文化背景知识, 有利于英语阅读理解能力的提高。
