“” READING REAPORT《麦克白》
"Macbeth" is the last of the four tragedies written by Shakespeare, Shakespeare depicted how Macbeth, who was once a powerful hero, sank into a tyrant bringing calamity to the country and people. That reflected his indivial ambition and lust for power, which destroyed human nature and showed us the essence of anti-humanity caused by the extreme indivialism.
First, the following is the main idea of “Macbeth”. Macbeth, a Scottish general, on his way home after defeating the rebel, the merciless Mocdonwald , believed in three witches, who gave him some blurred predictions . As what he trusted, The prediction that Macbeth became “thane of Cawdor” was fulfilled. Macbeth was not sincerely grateful for that, but coveted with the highest prophecy----being the king of Scotland. With the instigation of Lady Macbeth, they plot together to murder Duncan, the king of Scotland, and put the blame on two housecarls. Unknowing the murderer, two princes escaped to England and Ireland to protect their safety. However, the nobilities believed the two princes is murders! On the other hand, Macbeth ordered three assassins to killed the insider, Banquo. No long later, what Macbeth done had been discovered. Two princes and Banquo’s son came back with England army. End up with Lady Macbeth’ suicide and Macbeth was killed by Banquo’s son.
Macbeth’s prospect should be bright, as what Duncan, the king of Scotland, said, “thou art so far before that swiftest wing of recompense is slow to overtake thee. Would thou hadst less deserved, that the proportion both of thanks and payment might have been mine! Only I have left to say, more is thy e than more than all can pay.” “I have begun to plant thee, and will labour to make thee full of growing. ”
Comparing with Banquo, facing to Duncan’s recognition, Banquo said that like this,
“There if I grow, the harvest is your own.” However, when Duncan declared that established their estate upon he eldest, Malcolm, whom they named hereafter the Prince of Cumberland, Macbeth Aside that, “The Prince of Cumberland! that is a step on which I must fall down, or else o'erleap, for in my way it lies. Stars, hide your fires; Let not light see my black and deep desires: The eye wink at the hand; yet let that be,which the eye fears, when it is done, to see.”
according to this contrast, Macbeth is very care about the prediction. However, Lady Macbeth gave a description of him like this,
“Glamis thou art, and Cawdor; and shalt be what thou art promised: yet do I fear thy nature; It is too full o' the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way: thou wouldst be great; Art not without ambition, but without the illness should attend it: what thou wouldst highly, that wouldst thou holily; wouldst not play false, and yet wouldst wrongly win: thou'ldst have, great Glamis, that which cries 'Thus thou must do, if thou have it; and that which rather thou dost fear to do than wishest should be undone.”
These words were extremely apropos to Macbeth. Also, Lady Macbeth’s intensive analysis gave Mecbeth great courage to murder the king. Of course, what aroused Macbeth’s psychical devil was his innermost being. This was the inner factor. In term of external factor, I think mostly lied on Lady Macbeth’s urging.
“Hie thee hither, that I may pour my spirits in thine ear; and chastise with the valour of my tongue all that impedes thee from the golden round, which fate and metaphysical aid doth seem
to have thee crown'd withal. ”
Lady Macbeth was so fierce and antagonistic that , after Duncan was killed, she still kept calm to deal with problems arising from an accident. As what she said,
“I have given suck, and know how tender 'tis to love the babe that milks me: I would, while it was smiling in my face, have pluck'd my nipple from his boneless gums, and dash'd the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this. ” proved that.
All of above was one of the tragedy. The second one was that, since Macbeth had killed Duncan, and had been the king himself, he killed Banquo, the unique insider, to consolidate his kingship. In fact, he had not necessary to do this. As a man of mark, he would work hard on government affairs, it was not far for kingship’s strengthening. Contrarily, he had done what he should not do. End up with implacable hatred between he and Macff , Malcolm, Donaln.
The third tragedy was Macbeth’s full conviction on the predictions. He was eager to know what would happen in the future, exactly, to nip an evil in the bud. So, he found out the witches and listened to them, “Be bloody, bold, and resolute; laugh to scorn the power of man, for none of woman born shall harm Macbeth.” “Be lion-mettled, proud; and take no care who chafes, who frets, or where conspirers are: Macbeth shall never vanquish'd be until great Birnam wood to high Dunsinane hill shall come against him. ” Macbeth was smug and complacent for this, thinking that nobody could kill him.
However, the story developing was not like what he thought. Two princes, Malcolm and Donaln,
and Macff came back with England army. “Let every soldier hew him down a bough and bear't before him: thereby shall we shadow the numbers of our host and make discovery err in report of us.” Malcolm ordered. On the other hand in the castle, the messenger said, “As I did stand my watch upon the hill, I look'd toward Birnam, and anon, methought, the wood began to move.” And Macbeth said, “If thou speak'st false, upon the next tree shalt thou hang alive, till famine cling thee: if thy speech be sooth, I care not if thou dost for me as much. I pull in resolution, and begin to doubt the equivocation of the fiend that lies like truth.”
When the army arrived the castle, the prediction “none of woman born shall harm Macbeth” as well as proved to be a lie.
In term of the witches’ predictions, “That keep the word of promise to our ear, and break it to our hope. I'll not fight with thee.” Macbeth caused his own tragedy. There exists inner certainty in Macbeth's tragedy, which is the ambitious desire, the sense of guilty for vicious circle and unfounded persistence and confidence. Macbeth's tragedy was not only the tragedy of disposition, but also the society. I have always felt that some of the real-life tragedy of our own making. We live in a world full of temptation, we are conscientious about the scale of swing, I would be a wrong step in life through the ages into hate.

雾都孤儿读书报告Review of ‘Oliver Twist’
As you have read ‘Oliver Twist’, a novel reflecting the tragic fact of the life in Britain in 18th century which has became one of the most famous works of Charles Dickens, you can really understand the worlds‘regain the nature of goodness’.
Charles Dickens was born in a poor family ,having a poor background ,he wrote this novel in his twenties ,who was just with a view to reveal the ugly masks of those cruel criminals,as well as to expose the horror and violence hidden underneath the narrow and dirty streets in London.
The hero of ‘Oliver Twist’ was an orphan named Oliver Twist, when he was born ,he was thrown into a world which is full of poverty and crime. He has suffered enormous pains, such as hunger, thirst, beating and abuse. While reading the tragic experiences of the little Oliver, I was shocked by his sufferings. I felt really sorry for the poor boy, but at the same time I detest the evil Fagin and the brutal Bill. To my relief, as all the happy stories do, the goodness eventually conquered devil and Oliver lived a
happy life at the end. One of the plots which attracted me most is that after the theft, little Oliver was allowed to recover in the kind care of Mrs. Maylie and Rose and began a new life. He went for walks with them, or Rose read to him, and he worked hard at his lessons. He felt as if he had left behind forever the world of crime and hardship and poverty.
Sometimes,in the deep and quiet nights,I keep asking myself, how can such a little boy who had already suffered oppressive affliction remain pure in body and mind? The reason is the nature of goodness. I think it is the most important information implied in the novel by Dickens-he believed that goodness could conquer every difficulty. Although I don’t think goodness is omnipotent, yet I do believe that those who are kind-hearted live more happily than those who are evil-minded.
Reflect on myself,I define the nature of goodness to be one of the most necessary character for a person. Goodness is to humans what water is to fish. He who is without goodness is an utterly worthless person. On the contrary, as the famous saying goes, ‘The fragrance always stays in the hand that gives the rose’, he who is with goodness undoubtedly is a happy and useful person. People receiving his help are grateful to him and he also gets gratified from what he has done, and thus he can do good to both the people he has helped and himself. To my disappointment, nowadays some people seem to doubt the existence of the goodness in humanity. They look down on people’s honesty and kindness, thinking it foolish of people to be warm-hearted. As a result, they show no sympathy to those who are in trouble and seldom offer to help others. On the other hand, they attach importance to money and benefit. In their opinion, money is the only real object while emotions and morality are nihility. If they cannot get profit from showing their ‘kindness’, they draw back when others are faced with trouble and even hit a man when he is down. They are one of the sorts that I really detest.
There are some worlds in an essay, ‘Goodness, of all virtues and dignities of the mind, is the greatest, being the character of the Deity, and without it, man is a busy, mischievous, wretched thing, no better than a kind of vermin.’.
All in all,if a person without goodness ,he is destined to lose everything. Thereby, all those ‘vermin-to-be’ should learn from the book and remember to regain the nature of goodness in the bottom of theirs’hearts.
小王子读书报告Keep the Childlike Innocence
I. Introction
The Little Prince first published in 1943, is a novella and the most famous work of the French aristocrat, writer, poet and pioneering aviator Antoinede Saint-Exupéry(1900–1944).The novella is both the most read and most translated book in the French language, and was voted the best book of the 20th century in France. Translated into more than 250 languages and dialects, and it has become one of the best-selling books ever published. Saint-Exupéry, a laureate of several of France's highest literary awards and areserve military pilot at the start of the Second World War, wrote and illustratedthe manuscript while exiled in the United States after the Fall of France. He hadtravelled there on a personal mission to persuade its government to quickly enter the war against Nazi Germany. In the midst of personal upheavals andfailing health he proced almost half of the writings he would be rememberedfor, including a tender tale of loneliness, friendship, love and loss, in the form ofa young prince fallen to Earth. An earlier memoir by the author recountedhisaviation experiences in the Sahara and he is thought to have drawn on those sameexperiences for use as plot elements in The Little Prince. II. A Summary of The Little Prince
The Little Prince tells a story like that: A pilot crashes in the Sahara Desert.A thousand miles from any habitation, while attempting to fix his plane, he meetsa strangely dressed little boy who seems to have come from nowhere, and whodemands that he draw a sheep. "When a mystery is too overpowering, one dare not disobey," so the pilot attempts to draw a sheep. Graally the littleprince reveals his story. He comes from a small asteroid, where he lives alone until arose grows there. But the rose is demanding, and he is confused by his feelingsabout her. Eventually he decides to leave, and journey to other planets in search ofknowledge. After meeting many confusing alts, he eventually lands on Earth, where he befriends a snake and a fox. The fox helps him to understand the rose, and the snake offers to help him return to his planet-- but at a price. From my point of view, The Little Prince is not simply a fairy tale, but aphilosophicalnovel. The author reveals the absurdity of the civilized world through the eyes of the little prince, who has a pure heart and a true world.
III. My Views on The Little Prince
The use of the symbols makes the story full of meanings and morevivid. Firstly, the setting is in the Desert of Sahara. As for me, desert is pure landinsome way, not yet the invasion of the modern civilization. Only in such a place, can love, responsibility and the human nature be revealed fully. Secondly, the first creature the little prince encountered was the snake. In the west, thesnake represents mystery and power. In the story, the snake is “more powerful than the finger of a king”and has the prophet for everything. The snake thought the prince was “innocent and true” while “this earth made of granite”, so finally it sent thelittle prince back to his planet. What the snake said tell the darkness and evil of the human, the little prince is not suitable to live in such a place. Thirdly, the choice of the fox is also meaningful. In people’s eyes, the fox is always filled withwisdom. In the story, the fox is just like a philosopher, giving the prince adviceand inspiring him to understand the meaning of love, the responsibilities for his rose, and the difference between “alike” and “unique”. The fox told thelittle prince his secret: “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; whatis essential is invisible to the eye”, but “the men have forgotten this truth”.
The words satires the ignorance of human beings who do not even know thetrue essence of love and friendship. Meanwhile, it reminds us that we shouldbe responsible for our love, to be true. In the story, it describes the people such as the king, the conceited man, the tippler, the businessman and so on. They represent allmanner of man in the earth with their own symbolic meanings.
The story is made up of philosophical sentences, from which we can gain a good deal of enlightenment. I will take some as examples. In chapter 17,the snake told the prince “It is also lonely among men”. As for me, nowadays peopleis becoming busy and ambitious, they no longer have time to care about others, even their friends just for pursuing their own goals. We can see thealienationbetween them. It reminds me of the masterpiece Moby Dick written by Herman Melville. Because of the alienation between man and man, they can notunite together, which lead to a tragedy in the end. In chapter 10, the king said:”Youshall judge yourself that is the most difficult thing of all. It is much more difficultto judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom”. I can not agree it more. AsPlato said:”know yourself”, which is a important principle for us to live. It is of greatimportance to know who we are, what we have done and for what. Only if we can truly know ourselves, can we make the right choice, not blind for seekingfor something meaningless. As the lamplighter said, “It is impossible for a man to be faithful and lazy at the same time.” This sentence illustrates the old saying”You can’t have your cake and eat it too”, things are always like that, admittedly, human is greedy sometimes.
The Little Prince almost covers all aspects of life, including friendship, love, responsibilities, freedom and so on. It can be said as a guidance for a better life, better society. We’d better be childish in our deep heart and soul.

People always like to compare with their friends. It is a big foible of all the people. If other people have a lot of money, we also want to be rich. If all the people around us are poor , we never mind that we are very poor, too. we will not ashamed because of our folly. This is a social problem.
If we never possess anything, we will not mind we lost some thing. Since we don’t want to be very rich ,we will not feel despond because poor.
The protagonist of this novel is Pip (Handel). His parents died when he was a baby. His sister had brought him up ‘by hand’. His sister married to Joe Gargery, the village blacksmith. They didn’t have much money, and Pip never went to school to study. But he was often very happy .Because all of his friends are like him. It isn’t very unfortunate to them, this is their lives.

1.《Jane Eyre》 I have read a book called 《Jane Eyre》. I think the story was very interesting. The girl called Jane Eyre was very brave. Jane was an orphan. She lived in her aunt’ house. Her aunt didn’t like her, so she took her to an orphanage. Jane studied in the orphanage and learned a lot of things. When Jane grew up, she worked as a governess in a big family and taught the child in this family. Bit by bit, Jane and her master Mr Rochester came to fall in love with each other. But the master had a wife. She was a madwoman. When Jane knew this, she left her teaching post. But she could not forget her master. So, at last, she visited her master. At that time, her master’ house was burnt down and he became handicapped. His mad wife died in the big fire. Jane decided to get married with him and look after him. Jane Eyre found his real love and she was a happy woman. The most important thing is that Jane believed everybody were equal. Do you think so?
2. Notes on《Out of nowhere》 I am a boy, so I like playing basketball very much. Every Sunday, I like watching NBA on TV. I have read an article from English Salon. This article is “Out of nowhere”. It is about an NBA player in Dallas Mavericks. His name is Dirk Nowitzki. This article tells us Nowitzki is from Germany. He is able to sprint up court like a swing-man. However, he practices every day. I think studying is like playing basketball. We must work harder and harder. And we must try our best to study each subject well. If we do like this, I think we will do well in our subjects as Nowitzki plays basketball. We can also “Out of Nowhere” in studying.
3. After reading 《Harry Potter》 When I read the article “Harry Potter returns” I was very excited because there will be a new book:《Harry Potter and the Half – blood Prince》《Harry Potter》 is one of my favourite books. The first five books are very wonderful and strange. I think the sixth book is worth waiting for. I have already read the five books. I think many people like 《Harry Potter》too. They also hope the sixth new book will come to China as soon as possible because people can not wait to read the new book. We are looking forward to the new book, because we are true readers. 《Harry Potter》is really interesting, wonderful and makes people excited. After reading this article, I also learn many new words, for example, hints, characters, worth and blood. Reading books or newspapers can bring many benefits, we can get a lot of useful information, and we can study many things as well. Reading is good for us and it can help us to study. I advise all students to read as many books as they can.
4. After reading The Coldest Place on the Earth Do you know where the coldest place on the Earth is? Yes, it’s the Antarctica, or the South Pole. People arrived in the Antarctica in December 14th, 1911. And this book, the Coldest Place on the Earth, tells us a sad story in it. A team from Britain and another team from Norway were in this race, they all wanted to be the first team to get to the South Pole. They also hope that the flag of their country could be the first to wave in the sky of the South Pole. In the end, the Norwegians were the first with their captain Amundsen. But the Britain team with their captain Scott died in the Antarctica. Robert Scott and his friends were dead in the Antarctica, but they showed their spirit: always be brave and confident; never give up. We should do everything confidently. There are many difficulties in our study, work and life. But we should be brave, and have courage. We should go on along our road. Then we can see the hope. We’ll succeed. But you know, many people give up when they face difficulties. They think that: ‘I can’t go over this difficulty. I must go back.’ That’s wrong. All of us have this ability to overcome difficulties.
5. The real beauty When I became a 12-year-girl, I started to pick on my appearance. I didn’t like to stand in front of the mirror, and I was really self-contemptuous. I thought I don’t have big enough eyes, or a slim and tall figure. But when I read the article by Chang Mengsu, I changed my thought. The topic of the article is “Beauty is only skin deep”. Chang Mengsu cared too much about her appearance before. She realized the real beauty from Mr. Hawking. Now, she knows physical figure is unimportant; we can become beautiful inside ourselves. We have to stop worrying about our appearance. To to be happy, be confident, find our true selves and build up our inner beauty can make us really beautiful. Her article led me to think about the real beauty again. She’s right. So, I thought of some successful people and the people around me. I think Pan Changjiang is a good example. He is very short and not handsome. But he is confident. As an comic actor, he brings a lot of fun to audiences all over our country. Everyone thinks that he is really lovely. Another example is J.K. Rowling. When she was young, she was very needy and had poor eyesight. Some children liked to laugh at her. But Rowling is brave and gritty. When Rowling published her series of Harry Potter, she became very rich and happy. All of her readers like her very much and they don’t care of her appearance. Pan Changjiang’s and Rowling’s stories tell me, the real beauty is in the heart. I will be beautiful as long as I have good qualities. I am not good-looking, never mind. I have a good sense of humour, I am very kind, and these good characters make me beautiful. Now, I like my own self. Every morning, I smile to myself in the mirror. I say to the mirror, “Look, what a beautiful girl!”
