My husband, our children and I have had wonderful camping experiences over the past ten years. 本段交代了故事的人物:my husband, our children and I; 主要事件:wonderful camping experiences;通过时间over the past ten years可以体会到本篇文章为回忆过去一家人露营的故事。
3.关注末段:从weare filled with a sense of 54,wondering whatcamping funand 55 we will experience next.
例如,41题,联系首段中over the past ten years可以判断本空应该填experiences或memories,显然memories记忆更好。
I have had wonderful camping experience sover the past ten years.
例如,45题,联系45前面的so(所以),后面是tie sb up把某人绑起来,keep a close eye on him密切注视着他,那肯定应该是不再把孩子绑起来,那答案中的instead of(而不是),就符合语境。
例如,46题,根据下文中he didn’t end up in the creek.
你可能会想到熟悉的set out,set off,那答案中的headed off就是合适的。
We were stuck inthe middle of the lake with a dead motor.
例如,54题,联系下文,wondering what camping fun and 55 we will experience next,其中wonder好奇,fun乐趣,那前面应该是每年露营之前,我们都很高兴或很兴奋,那excitement更合适。
tie sb up把某人绑起来 keep a close eye on密切注视 end up 最终,以…结束e to由于 instead of而不是apart from除…之外 as for关于 sign up 注册,报名 calm down 平静下来check out检验;结账离开;办理退房手续head off 离开,出发 pick up (熟词生义)变大,增强 be stuck in 被困在…,陷入pull up (车,船等)停下来

Photos that you might have found down the back of your sofa are now big business!
In 2005, the American artist Richard Prince’s photograph of a photograph, Untitled (Cowboy), was sold for $ 1, 248, 000.
Prince is certainly not the only contemporary artist to have worked with so-called “found photographs”—a loose term given to everything from discarded(丢弃的) prints discovered in a junk shop to old advertisements or amateur photographs from a stranger’s family album. The German artist Joachim Schmid, who believes “basically everything is worth looking at”, has gathered discarded photographs, postcards and newspaper images since 1982. In his on-going project, Archiv, he groups photographs of family life according to themes: people with dogs; teams; new cars; dinner with the family; and so on.
Like Schmid, the editors of several self-published art magazines also champion (捍卫) found photographs. One of them, called simply Found, was born one snowy night in Chicago, when Davy Rothbard returned to his car to find under his wiper(雨刷) an angry note intended for some else: “Why’s your car HERE at HER place?” The note became the starting point for Rothbard’s addictive publication, which features found photographs sent in by readers, such a poster discovered in our drawer.
The whole found-photograph phenomenon has raised some questions. Perhaps one of the most difficult is: can these images really be considered as art? And if so, whose art? Yet found photographs proced by artists, such Richard Prince, may riding his horse hurriedly to meet someone? Or how did Prince create this photograph? It’s anyone’s guess. In addition, as we imagine the back-story to the people in the found photographs artists, like Schmid, have collated (整理), we also turn toward our own photographic albums. Why is memory so important to us? Why do we all seek to freeze in time the faces of our children, our parents, our lovers, and ourselves? Will they mean anything to anyone after we’ve gone?

In 1997, a group of twenty British women made history. Working in five teams with four women in each team, they walked to the North Pole. Apart from one experienced female guide, the other women were all ordinary people who had never done anything like this in their lives before. They managed to survive in an environment which had defeated several very experienced men ring the same time period.
The women set off as soon as they were ready. Once on the ice, each woman had to ski along while dragging a sledge 雪橇 weighing over 50 kilos. This would not have been too bad on a *** ooth surface, but for long distances, the Arctic ice is pushed up into huge piles two or three metres high, and the sledges had to be pulled up one side and carefully let down the other so that they didn‘t bee damaged. The temperature was always below the freezing point and sometimes strong winds made walking while pulling so much weight almost impossible. It was also very difficult for them to put up their tents when they stopped each night.
In such conditions, the women were making good progress if they covered fourteen or fifteen kilometres a day. But there was another problem. Part of the journey was across a frozen sea with moving water underneath the ice and at some points the team would drift 漂流 back more than five kilometres ring the night. That meant that after walking in these very severe conditions for ten hours on one day, they had to spend part of the next day covering the same ground again. Furthermore, each day it took three hours from waking up to setting off and another three hours every evening to set up the camp and prepare the evening meal.
So, how did they manage to succeed? They realized that they were part of a team. If any one of them didn‘t pull her sledge or get her job done, she would endanger the success of the whole expedition 探险. Any form of selfishness could result in the efforts of everyone else being pletely wasted, so personal feelings had to be put to one side. At the end of their journey, the women agreed that it was mental effort far more than physical fitness that got them to the North Pole.
63. What was so extraordinary about the expedition?
A. There was no one to lead it.
B. The women did not have any men with them.
C. It was a new experience for most of the women.
D. The women had not met one another before.
64. It was difficult for the women to cover 15 kilometres a day because ________.
A. they got too tired B. the ice was moving
C. they kept getting lost D. the temperatures were too low
65. What is the main message of the text?
A. Motivation and teamwork achieve goals.
B. Women can do anything they want.
C. It is sometimes good to experience difficult conditions.
D. Arctic conditions are very severe.
66. Which of the following items is NOT mentioned in the text?
A. Weather conditions. B. Protective clothing.

A new set of brain images shows why : Reading the Roman alphabets and Chinese characters uses different parts of the brain.
The results also suggest that Chinese schoolchildren have reading problems in a different part of the brain used in reading alphabet-based languages. This shows that the learning disorder dyslexia inability to read properly is not the same in very culture and does not have a universal biological cause.
Scientists described the results as ― very important and revolutionary‖. While dyslexia has certain mon roots, they said, they now have some proof that this kind of functional problem works differently according to the different demands that Western and Eastern languages place on the brain.
Dyslexia is a mon developmental disorder in which people of normal intelligence have difficulty learning to read, spell and master other language skills.
The results suggest that treating dyslexia around the world probably will require different treatments.
―Reading is plex,‖ said Guinevere Eden, Georgetown University professor. ― This shows we need to be more open-minded about diverse treatment approaches.‖
Its origins are plex. There appears to be a genetic aspect to the illness. It also may result from brain injury before birth that changes visual and hearing pathways in the brain.
Earlier brain scans show that English-reading dyslexics don‘t function properly in a left part of the brain associated with the awareness of 44 sounds from the English alphabet. However, according to the new study, reading Chinese uses some different parts of the brain located in the left-front of the brain. It is associated with symbol interpretation. Unlike alphabet letters, Chinese characters represent entire thoughts and physical objects.

There are four people in the picture. A girl is learning how to ride a bike. Her parents and her grandmother, being afraid that she might fall off the bike, are trying hard to support her. The mother is even carrying a first–aid box. But with them around her, the girl finds it very difficult to learn. So she tells them to let her ride it by herself.
In our real life, we can see something like that happening everywhere. Parents love their children too much. They take care of everything for them. They don‘t want them to take any risks. However, by doing so, the parents actually hinder their children from growing up strong and healthy. Parents should know that trees can‘t grow big and strong in a greenhouse.

Tell a story and tell it well, and you may open wide the eyes of a child, open up lines of communication in a business, or even open people’s mind to another culture or race.
People in many places are digging up the old folk stories and the messages in them. For example, most American storytellers get their tales from a wide variety of sources, cultures, and times. They regard storytelling not only as a useful tool in child ecation, but also as a meaningful activity that helps alts understand themselves as well as those whose culture may be very different from their own.
"Most local stories are based on a larger theme,” American storyteller Opalanga Pugh says, “ Cinderella(灰姑娘), or the central idea of a good child protected by her goodness, appears in various forms in almost every culture of the world.”
Working with students in schools, Pugh helps them understand their own cultures and the general messages of the stories. She works with prisoner too, helping them knowing who they are by telling stories that her listeners can write, direct, and act in their own lives. If they don’t like the story they are living, they can rewrite the story. Pugh also works to help open up lines of communication between managers and workers. “For every advance in business,” she says, “ there is a greater need for communication.” Storytelling can have a great effect on either side of the manager-worker relationship, she says.
Pugh spent several years in Nigeria, where she learned how closely storytelling was linked to the everyday life of the people there. The benefits of storytelling are found everywhere, she says.
“I learned how people used stories to spread their culture,” she says, “ What I do is to focus on the value of the stories that people can translate into their own daily world of affairs. We are all storytellers. We all have a story to tell. We tell everybody’s story.”

1)In particular, there was (and perhaps still is) a belief in fairies. Not all of these __21__ are the friendly, people-loving characters that appear in Disney films, and in some folk-tales they are __22__ and cause much human suffering.
21. A. babies B. believes C. fairies D. supermen
22. A. powerful B. cruel C. frightened D. extraordinary
9) Telling him that he no longer needed to enjoy them but I still needed to write them, I __28__ until the day he graated.
28. A. held up B. gave up C. followed D. continued
10) He had spent those years well, graating from college, __30__ two internships(实习) in Washington, D.C, and finally, becoming a technical assistant in Sacramento.
30. A. organizing B. planning C. comparing D. completing
11) As she gathered her books, Jenna decided she'd continue to try to __32__ at her new school. She wasn't sure if she'd succeed, but she knew she had to try.
32. A. fit in B. look out C. stay up D. get around
【32. A项。
12) All went well that first week. When Saturday night came, I was luckily given the table s not far from the kitchen. __40__, I still felt it a little hard to carry the heavy trays.
40. A. Therefore B. However C. Otherwise D. Finally
13) He had spent those years well, graating from college, completing two internships(实习) in Washington, D.C, and __31__, becoming a technical assistant in Sacramento.
31. A. hopefully B. finally C. particularly D. certainly
14) Many parents go to children's sporting events and shout results at other players or cheer when their children behave aggressively. As well, children are even taught that hurting other players is acceptable or are pushed to continue playing even when they are injured. __59__, the media makes violence seem exciting. …
59. A. By account B. In addition C. As a result D. After all
因为by account意为“相反地”;as a result意为“结果是”;after all意为“毕竟,终究”,它们均不符合题意。】
语篇与语篇之间往往有表明其内在联系的词语,如:表示结果层次的语篇标志firstly, secondly, thirdly, finally等;表示逻辑关系的有thus, therefore, so 等;表示改变话题的有by the way等;表示时间关系的有before, so far, yet, now, later等。
