一、纠正课堂提问的偏差
爱因斯坦说过：“提出一个问题比解决一个问题更为重要。”课堂提问教学的成功与否，对于教学往往有着重要的影响，长期以来，一些初中英语教师对课堂提问缺乏必要的思考和研究，还存在一定的偏差，这些偏差需要及时纠正。
1、纠正无义偏差
课堂提问的问题要有明确的目的和指向，才可称得为“有意义”问题。但是，在平时的课堂教学中，存在着很多与之相反的“无义”问题,提一些与课堂教学目标无联系的问题，或者提一些走过场并且浪费时间的无效问题，造成教学不严密。如：
(1)Are you a student?

以上例子反映出无义问题的一般特征:问题回答与教学目标和主题关联不密切，所提问题可能误导学生脱离所学内容，或者只对活跃气氛产生效果，与本课内容无实质联系。
2、纠正低效偏差
目前的英语课堂提问内容，反映出提问实效过低的现象。特征表现为提问内容与所学内容无实质联系,只是为了提问而提问,在实际教学中，为了让课堂呈现出“繁荣”的景象，往往只需在“Yes”，或“No”, “Right”，或“Wrong”, “True”或“False”等肯定或否定的两极范围内选择。这些提问内容上的偏差，使得看似热闹的提问失去了原有的效果，丧失了课堂提问教学的有效性，提问的主题偏离了教学内容，学生的语言能力达不到任何的训练和提高，这对于学生的发展是不利的。
二、提高课堂提问内容的认知策略
有效教学是在学生“想学”的基础上展开的，教师要十分注意激发学生的学习动机。为了切实提高提问教学的有效性，使教师以尽可能少的时间、精力投入，取得尽可能好、尽可能多的教学效果，务必在课堂教学中明确提问的目标性，注重提问的艺术性，突出提问的主体性。
1、明确目标性
教学目标是教学活动的出发点和归宿，它支配、控制和调节着整个教学过程。任何教学活动都要围绕某个教学目标展开，提问教学的目标，笔者以为，主要是能启发学生思维，激发学生兴趣和促进学生发展。
教师的提问，应富有启发性，因为课堂提问本身不是目的，而是启发学生思维的手段。教师要善于提一些学生在所学内容中找不到现成答案，而又与所学内容关系十分密切的问题，让学生“跳一跳，才能摘到果子”，以利于激发学生的思考和求知欲，促进学生思维的发展，引起学生的探索活动，并在探索活动中培养创造力。例如，在讲授《牛津初中英语》 7A Unit3 Let’s celebrate 中的 Reading时,在课文学习之后，巧妙的通过两个开放式的提问：①.How do we Chinese celebrate Mid-autumn festival? ②.What are the differences between Halloween and Mid-autumn festival?让学生在讨论中各抒其见，分析比较得出结论,从而加深了对课文的理解。这样还能激发学生兴趣，爱因斯坦曾经说过，“兴趣是最好的老师”。因此，教师的提问要能激发学生的兴趣，使他们有了学习的原动力，就能提高他们的学习热情。为此，教师必须从教材和学生心理特点出发，引人入胜地提出富有趣味性、启发性的问题，用科学、艺术、生动的语言，吸引学生去积极思维。
2、注重艺术性
提问是一种教学手段，更是一项艺术活动。前苏联教育家苏霍母林斯基说过，“学生的注意力就像一只极易受惊的小鸟，当你走近时，它马上会飞走；当你抓住它并把它关起来时，以后就别想再听优美的歌喉。”因此，教师提问时，要十分注重方法和技巧，以强化学生的认知。
在课堂提问时，要尽量照顾到多数学生，兼顾少数学生，有时可采用多题联系提问法，就是先提出一个问题，然后让座位前后、左右顺序回答，使每个学生都有练习机会，例如，在讲解《牛津初中英语》7A Unit6 Fashion单元时，讨论What’s your favorite fashion?让学生按顺序回答，使每个学生都能表达一下自己的见解，而对于基础较好的学生可进一步问“Why?”
学生对问题做出正确的回答,即使是很小的进步，教师都应当给予肯定、赞扬,这样对增强学生答题的积极性和自信心非常有益。学生对问题做出错误的回答,教师应立即纠正,纠正速度越快,越有效。例如，对于回答得好的学生，可以用“Well done!”“Very good!”“You did a good job!”等鼓励学生再接再厉。对于回答不出或回答错误的学生，可以用“It doesn't matter.” “I hope you
