短文填空不仅考查学生对短文的阅读理解能力，又考查学生对词汇知识的综合运用能力。那么怎样完成《短文填空》题呢？
步骤一：把方框中的词汇归类
在做此题时不要急于阅读而是按照词类将其归类为：（1）动词，（2）名词，（3）形容词，（4）代词，（5）副词，（6）介词，（7）连词，（8）数词。用自己喜欢的标识去归类。
步骤二：注意各种词的词形和词性变化
（1）动词：首先要注意动词单三形式，现在分词，过去式和过去分词及不定式的形式，它是规则变化还是不规则变化。如：come/comes/coming/came/come/to come；study/studies/studying/studied/studied/to study。
（2）名词的变化。
注意：名词的单复数；名词的所有格；名词变形容词（luck—lucky）
（3）形容词的变化。
注意： ①形容词的原级，比较级，最高级，是否是不规则变化；
②形容词如何变副词。例：careful—carefully. Angry—angrily
（4）代词：应注意这个词的五种变化：主格，宾格，形容词性的物主代词，名词性的物主代词和反身代词。
（5）副词：它一般修饰形容词，副词和动词，放在形容词之前动词之后。
（6）介词：首先了解这个词的基本用法，它是否和形容词构成介词短语，或者与动词构成动词短语。
（7）数词：要注意这个词的基数词和序数词形式：如five—fifth。
（8）名词和形容词的派生词及前缀和后缀而派生出的不同意义的词。如：friend/friendly/friendship；home/homeless；fair/unfair。
步骤三：精读全文理解大意，给每个单词找座位
认真阅读短文，把握大意，根据所给词使短文语义通顺，符合逻辑。按照所选词的位置来确定它的变化形式，动词应注意它的五种变化，同时应注意动词的语态形式。名词应注意单复数及所有格变化。形容词应注意原级、比较级、最高级以及形容词变副词的规律。可按照固定搭配，语法要求，习惯用法，时态，语态等对句子进行分析，关注空格前空格后的词汇，从而对所选词进行适当变形。然后仔细检查单词拼写是否正确，是否有时态，语态，习惯用法上的错误，确保答案正确无误。
总之，学生做短文填空，不但要注意以上所谈的细节问题，而且要把握上下文之间的逻辑关系及构词法。在充分理解短文的基础之上，才能做好试题。同时，我们英语教师也应该在日常的教育教学活动中加强对学生的学习方法、答题技巧的指导和训练，要狠抓双基教育，只有这样我们杨凌第二初级中学的英语教学水平和教学质量才能得以提高。

Therefore, I believe that we should never give up.
One reason is that if we give up too easily, we will rarely achieve anything. It is not unusual for us to fail in our first attempt at something new, so we should not feel discouraged and should try again. Besides, if we always give up when we fail, we will not be able to develop new skills and grow as people. Another reason we should never give up is that we can learn from our mistakes only if we make a new effort. If we do not try again, the lesson we have learned is wasted. Probably the greatest example of persistence is Abraham Lincoln. Born into poverty, Lincoln was faced with defeat throughout his life. He lost eight elections, twice failed in business and suffered a nervous breakdown.
He could have quit many times - but he didn't and because he didn't quit, he became one of the greatest presidents in the history of our country.
Lincoln was a champion and he never gave up.
In short, it is important that we don’t give up when working for our goals.
