蘇七塊
蘇大夫本名蘇金傘，民國初年在小白樓一帶，開所行醫，正骨拿環，天津衛掛頭牌。連洋人賽馬，折胳膊斷腿，也來求他。
他人高袍長，手瘦有勁，五十開外，紅唇皓齒，眸子賽燈，下巴頦兒一綹山羊須，浸了油賽的烏黑鋥亮。張口說話，聲音打胸腔出來，帶著丹田氣，遠近一樣響，要是當年入班學戲，保準是金少山的冤家對頭。他手下動作更是「干凈麻利快」，逢到有人傷筋斷骨找他來，他呢？手指一觸，隔皮截肉，里頭怎麼回事，立時心明眼亮。忽然雙手賽一對白鳥，上下翻飛，疾如閃電，只聽「咔嚓咔嚓」，不等病人覺疼，斷骨頭就接上了。貼塊膏葯，上了夾板，病人回去自好。倘若再來，一準是鞠大躬謝大恩送大匾來了。
人有了能耐，脾氣准格色。蘇大夫有個格色的規矩，凡來瞧病，無論貧富親疏，必得先拿七塊銀元碼在檯子上，他才肯瞧病，否則決不搭理。這叫嘛規矩？他就這規矩！人家罵他認錢不認人，能耐就值七塊，因故得個挨貶的綽號叫做：蘇七塊。當面稱他蘇大夫，背後叫他蘇七塊，誰也不知他的大名蘇金傘了。
蘇大夫好打牌，一日閑著，兩位牌友來玩，三缺一，便把街北不遠的牙醫華大夫請來，湊上一桌。玩得正來神兒，忽然三輪車夫張四闖進來，往門上一靠，右手托著左胳膊肘，腦袋瓜淌汗，脖子周圍的小褂濕了一圈，顯然摔壞胳膊，疼得夠勁。可三輪車夫都是賺一天吃一天，哪拿得出七塊銀元？他說先欠著蘇大夫，過後准還，說話時還哼喲哼喲叫疼。誰料蘇大夫聽賽沒聽，照樣摸牌看牌算牌打牌，或喜或憂或驚或裝作不驚，腦子全在牌桌上。一位牌友看不過去，使手指指門外，蘇大夫眼睛仍不離牌。「蘇七塊」這綽號就表現得斬釘截鐵了。
牙醫華大夫出名的心善，他推說去撒尿，離開牌桌走到後院，鑽出後門，繞到前街，遠遠把靠在門邊的張四悄悄招呼過來，打懷里摸出七塊銀元給了他。不等張四感激，轉身打原道返回，進屋坐回牌桌，若無其事地接著打牌。
過一會兒，張四歪歪扭扭走進屋，把七塊銀元「嘩」地往檯子上一碼，這下比按鈴還快，蘇大夫已然站在張四面前，挽起袖子，把張四的胳膊放在檯子上，捏幾下骨頭，跟手左拉右推，下頂上壓。張四抽肩縮頸閉眼齜牙，預備重重挨幾下，蘇大夫卻說：「接上了。」當下便塗上葯膏，夾上夾板，還給張四幾包活血止疼口服的葯面子。張四說他再沒錢付葯款，蘇大夫只說了句：「這葯我送了。」便回到牌桌旁。
今兒的牌各有輸贏，更是沒完沒了，直到點燈時分，肚子空得直叫，大家才散。臨出門時，蘇大夫伸出瘦手，攔住華大夫，留他有事。待那二位牌友走後，他打自己座位前那堆銀元里取出七塊，往華大夫手心一放。在華大夫驚愕中說道：
「有句話，還得跟您說。您別以為我這人心地不善，只是我立的這規矩不能改！」
華大夫把這話帶回去，琢磨了三天三夜，到底也沒琢磨透蘇大夫這話里的深意。但他打心眼兒里欽佩蘇大夫這事這理這人。
