News In the Town

News In the Town

In the town, the place is so small, so people can easily have access to the newest news. Latterly, it has been said that a big and weird fish was found in the lake. As the fish had the strange shape that people never seen before, so everyone wanted to have a look at it. The news caught many people』s attention, they came to the lake and wanted to see the strange fish. When they saw it, they laughed, it was just the ordinary fish with the big shape. But the one who spread the news just exaggerated the fact. News in the town can』t be trust, so we must figure it out.

Mid-autumn Festival Plan

Tomorrow is Mid-autumn festival, since I don』t have go to school, so I want to take a break and have fun. Mid-autumn festival is a big day, in the tradition, the families will get together and have a big dinner. For me, I have made some plans. In the morning, I will go shopping with my sister, we will buy some delicious food, so as to prepare for the dinner. In the evening, after finishing the supper, I want to play some games with my family, since it is the precious moment for us get together, we must enjoy the moment. At last, we will watch the TV show, what a wonder night.

The Way of Thinking Between Boys and Girls

Last night, I saw an interesting movie, it told about a boy and a girl who were at the same age, but the way they thought was so different. The boy was skin-deep, he judged the person by their faces, while the girl could think much further, she found the beauty of life. During their process of growing, finally the boy became mature and started to have the real talk with the girl. I learn that boys and girls indeed think in a very different way, so misunderstanding always happens. It is important to have the communication, so that they can know each other』s thoughts.

The headmaster of a middle school in sou

Should Schools Suspend Troublesome Students?
I recently read a news story about a school in England whose headmaster often suspends misbehaving students. The headmaster believes that strong discipline improves both students』 behavior and academic performance. His school』s exam results have greatly improved ring his time in charge.
I believe the headmaster is correct to take this action. If a few students are always behaving poorly in class then it will negatively affect other students』 learning. As a result, many innocent students will suffer and they will fail to achieve their full potential. If the naughty students are removed from the class, the others can learn in peace. Hopefully the misbehaving students will learn their lessons and when they return their behavior will be better.
If I were in charge of a school, I would also be very strict with the students who don』t behave well. I would first warn and then suspend students who interrupt the learning of others or disrespect their teachers. But I would also visit the poor student』s home and discuss the problem with his parents so we could find a solution.
Should Schools Suspend Troublesome Students?
I recently read a news story about a school in England whose headmaster often suspends misbehaving students. The headmaster believes that strong discipline improves both students』 behavior and academic performance. His school』s exam results have greatly improved ring his time in charge.
While I congratulate the headmaster on his success I do not agree with the methods he used to achieve it. Suspending students should be the final type of punishment used for misbehaving students, not the first. Removing such students from the school may be beneficial to the remaining students but it doesn』t solve the problem of poor behavior. It only shifts the problem from the school to the community. If these naughty students are not in school, they will make trouble out of school. Moreover, as the parents of many of these students are working, the students are unsupervised(無人監管的) and thus are in danger of falling in with local criminals who will only encourage such bad behavior and even teach them worse things.
If I were in charge of his school I would place the naughty students in a class of their own. This way the other students could study in peace but the naughty students could remain under the supervision(監管) of the school and its teachers. The teachers in the naughty class would also have more time to focus on correcting the actions of these misbehaving students.

1

I typically do the crossword puzzle first and it is in the Sports page of the Nashua Telegraph ..usually.. so I will say that I like "the crossword page" best.
I'm old fashioned in the way that enjoy getting my news from an actual newspaper so I read the entire paper usually and the order I read the different sections varies but might typically go; Front page, Local news page, Sports page, Classifieds and Entertainment pages.. but this is far from set, it's very fluid. One day I might be interested in a local topic and go for that page first another day I might need to see the Red Sox score so I read sports page first etc..The only thing that remains constant is that I will read the whole newspaper if I have it.

2
I usually start with the obits, then move on to the births. Next, I like to read the want ads and do the crossword puzzle. After that, I am ready to tackle the news. I read the entire Missoulian, no big feat.

I guess I like to read the obits because I have lived in Montana for so long. It seems like I always know someone, and I feel like I am honoring them by reading their story. Also, it makes me feel better if a person dies at a ripe old age. I am getting up there in years, after all. I like to see the births because I was a midwife for many years, so again I know a lot of the families. The crossword works two ways. Either I do great and feel better that I don't have dementia, or I do terrible and well, that is a worry, isn't it?

I live in a town with two dailies, and I read one at home and the other at work.
In both places, the paper needs to be shared. So the first question should be, who is already reading what when I sit down to breakfast (at home) or to lunch (at work)?
At home, everyone wants the local section. My husband reads the editorials; my older daughter does too, plus the political cartoons and the letters to the editor; I actually read the local news in the local news section, and then some of the editorials; my younger daughter just wants to look at the weather. So this section is usually under demand by everyone and when you get to read it is something that is negotiated.
At work, the section under greatest demand is sports. To me, this section has been hived off for easy disposal/recycling. The Friday and Saturday NYT crossword, if I can remember, will get photocopied at work so I can do it at home over the weekend.
If I had my complete freedom over the paper, I』d read it as follows:
1. Front section
2. Local News
3. Northwest Life/Life and Arts (some of the articles, plus the advice columns and the funnies)
Then:
4. Scan the front of the business section
5. Leaf through the occasional suppliments, such as the entertainment pull out at the end of the week, the outdoors section, etc. if interested and if I have time.
Discard: classifieds, other ads, Sports.
Oh, and I sometimes get a hold of our work place』s Wall Street Journal, but that』s hard to track down. There』s one co-worker that basically hoards it at her desk.

Winning combination
WHEN an NBA player is young he thinks he can win the championship by himself. It is only later when he has aged and been through many battles that he learns an important lesson: there is no "I" in "team".

There is no better example of the value of teamwork than the Boston Celtics. Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett were all superstars on three different teams. Yet, none of them had any titles to show for it. Then, last season, they decided to sacrifice money and indivial statistics to play together. Garnett and Allen joined Pierce on the Celtics and changed the NBA in the process.

It started in simple ways. Garnett and Allen are two of the most intense athletes in the world. They treat every second of every practice like it is the NBA championship. If you want to play alongside them then you will have to do the same. So, the young guys on the Celtics started giving their full effort too.

Pierce had been the star of the Celtics for many years. He used to shoot the ball many times a game. But with the addition of Allen and Garnett he shot less and focused on defense. His selflessness showed the young players that doing what made the team better was the only thing that mattered.

When the Celtics were winning and the game was almost over, Garnett, Pierce and Allen would come out of the game. But they wouldn』t just sit on the bench. Instead, they stood and cheered and screamed for their teammates. They wanted to support their friends and teammates.

Now, the guys who don't play know they can still affect the game by cheering so they scream and cheer when Garnett, Allen and Pierce are playing. The Celtics have developed a strong relationship. They are more than just teammates. They are brothers.

The result: the Boston Celtics won the 2008 NBA championship and are considered the favorites to win the Eastern Conference championship again this year.

There is a saying that goes, "A successful team beats with one heart." If that is the case, the Celtics may have the biggest heart in the NBA.

Some have linked the new strain of H1N1 to an instrial hog farm in Mexico

Can Swine Flu Be Blamed on Instrial Farming?

Amidst the hubbub surrounding the current pandemic threat from swine flu,

an epidemiological mystery has been unfolding. Authorities have designated

Edgar Hernandez, a fiveyearold from La Gloria in the Mexican state of

Veracruz as "Patient Zero"at least he is the earliest case they have found

so far. Virologists have determined that the mutating flu is a combination

of several older flu strains, commonly associated with pigs. And La Gloria

is home to nearly a million pigs on a nearby factory farm。

So is socalled swine flu really just another environmental problem associated

with factory farming?

After all, such large operations keep the animals in close confinement, dope

them with antibiotics to keep them alive in the crowded conditions and create

vast pools and piles of wasteall good ways to promote the spread of any disease。

Other health threats, such as antibioticresistant strains of

staphylococcus aureus, have emerged from pig farms as well。

Nevertheless, this H1N1 strain has not yet been found in the pigs near La

Gloria, nor is it clear how it would have jumped from the factory farm to

little Edgar。

But what is clear thanks to the hard work of virologists is that this

particular strain of flu got its genetic start on U.S. hog farms back in

the 1990s. That's according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control. How

the virus jumped from pigs to humans may have nothing to do with factory

farms, but confined animal feeding operations helped to breed the disease。

HOUSTON, May 2 (Xinhua) -- The Offshore Techonology Conference, one of the world's largest offshore technology shows, kicked off here Monday.

The five-day event, which attracted an estimated 72,000 victors from all around the world, not only provided a platform for the about 2,400 participating companies from 40 countries to lure visitors with their newest procts and technologies, but also for the them to share insights and discuss issues the instry is facing.

On Monday, a number of companies, including Halliburton and Baker Hughes, received the Spotlight on New Technology Award by the OTC for their new procts and solutions.

Founded in 1969, the annual Offshore Technology Conference is the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, proction, and environmental protection. OTC is held annually at Reliant Center in Houston.

TRIPOLI, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, youngest son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, was killed in NATO's strike against Gaddafi's house, said a spokesman of the Libyan government.

The NATO attack against Gaddafi's house resulted in the deaths of Saif al-Arab Gaddafi, 29, youngest son of Gaddafi, and three of Gaddafi's grandchildren, said Mossa Ibrahim, the government spokesman.

The leader himself and his wife, who were in the house, were in good health, while other people injured in the attack, said the spokesman.

This is a direct operation to assassinate the leader, said the spokesman.

The attacks had no legal or political foundations, he said, saying the strike was a violation of the international law.

Asserting he would not leave, embattled Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi floated on Saturday a proposal for a ceasefire and negotiations in a televised speech.

He said that all parties concerned should follow the truce, and the NATO forces must stop their attacks.

Gaddafi ruled out the possibility that he will quit and leave Libya, which he has been ruling over the past 41 years.

Gaddafi slammed the air raids by NATO, which started to attack his fortified compound in the capital Tripoli.

The world's major powers, the UK, the US and France, started on March 19 to launch strikes from the air and sea against Gaddafi's forces after the UN Security Council passed a resolution to impose a no-fly zone over Libya and authorize "all necessary measures" to protect civilians in Libya.
