During the Christmas shopping rush in London, the intriguing story was reported of a tramp(流浪漢) who, apparently through no fault of his own, found himself locked in a well-known chain store late on Christmas Eve. 尋讀又稱查讀，同略讀一樣也是一種快速閱讀技巧。與略讀不同的是，它帶有明確的目的性，有針對地尋找問題的答案，比如從資料中迅速查找某一項具體事實或某一特定信息，如人物、事件、時間、地點、數字等。尋讀既有速度，又准確。在尋讀時閱讀者可以把整段整段的文字直接映人大腦，不必字字句句過目，眼光要自上而下、一目十行地尋找與問題內容相關的詞句，一旦發現有關的內容，就稍做停留，將它記住或摘下，無關的內容則很快掠過。運用這種方法，閱讀者就能在最短的時間內掠過盡可能多的閱讀內容，找到所需要的信息，當回答有關who， when，where等文章細節問題的時候，用此方法一般都可很快找到答案，可以說「一查即得」。對於小學生來說他們會對這樣的閱讀感興趣。
