英語四級成績只顯示分數，不劃分優良等級。

英語四級考試目的是推動大學英語教學大綱的貫徹執行，對大學生的英語能力進行客觀、准確的測量，為提高我國大學英語課程的教學質量服務。國家教育部委託「全國大學英語四、六級考試委員會」（1993年名為「大學英語四、六級標准化考試設計組」）負責設計、組織、管理與實施大學英語四、六級考試。
