People who are to be happy fix their attention on the convenience of things:the pleasant parts of conversation, the well prepared dishes, the goodness of the wine and the fine weather. They enjoy all the cheerful things. Those who are to be unhappy think and speak only of the opposite things. Therefore, they are continually dissatisfied.By their remarks, they sour the pleasure of society, offend many people, and make themselves disagreeable everywhere. If this turn of mind was sounded in nature, such unhappy persons would he the more to he pitied. The intention of criticizing and being disliked is perhaps taken up by imitation. It grows into a habit, unknown to its possessors. The habit may be strong, but it may he cured when those who have it realize its had effects on their interests and tastes.I hope this little warning may he of service to them, and help them change this habit.

The UN Environment Programme says that rising temperatures could mean the end for some migrating animals.
Migrating or mobile animals move through several environments as they travel away from the cold of winter to warmer areas.Birds may fly from one part of the world to another, perhaps stopping at feeding grounds on the way.Whales and turtles cover vast
areas of ocean. The report says that changes in any one of the places which these animals use can cause serious harm.“Obviously these animals have developed their traveling patterns over thousands of years, but climate change is almost certain to be extreme over the next 25 to 50 years and it is extremely unlikely that these animals can change their habits fast enough,”said the report author Dr Robert Hepworth.
Hardest hit by rising temperatures are turtles.Scientists have found that at higher temperatures, turtles proce far more female eggs than male ones.In parts of Malaysia, turtle birthing sites are procing only females, the report says It also provides evidence that some turtles are more likely to develop cancer as the waters get warmer.
With birds, the main problem is climate related damage to important areas at either end of the travels of at resting places along the way.About one—fifth of migrating birds are now in danger because of climate related changes including rising sea levels, land loss and more violent storms, the report concludes.
Other animals picked out as particularly in danger include:
•the North Atlantic Right Whale, whose main food(tiny shrimp)is disturbed by the change in ocean flows and
•the White Nose Dolphin, which is out—competed by other kinds of dolphins in warmer waters
The report is not all bad news.Even with major climatic changes.protecting the environment can still help mobile animals to recover.‘‘We need governments to start taking action at the national and international level. The clock is running.”said Dr. Hepworth. And some animals ale already adapting, with the report mentioning whales that are changing their feeding behaviors, finding new feeding grounds and new foods to eat.
51.What is the main topic of the text?
A.The effect of climate change on migrating animals.
B.How animals are adapting to changes in temperature.
C The actions required to save migrating animals
D The need for government policies to prevent global warming.

A.1t may be too late to save some animals
B.it is time to start protecting the animals
C there is not much time to solve the problem
D.it takes time to complete the actions
53.According to the report, how will global warming affect turtles in the future?
A.They will only proce female babies.
B.Their food supply will graally disappear.
C.Some will suffer from higher rates of cancer
D They will be in greater danger because of more violent storms.
54 Which of the following is mentioned as a consequence of rising temperatures?

These rocks and the land forms tell a story of endless changes in the earth's crust(地壳) - vast depositions, contortions, tilting, alternate risings and lowering, faulting and intense heats and pressures that changed the very nature of some rocks.
B. This park protects a large deposit(存放) of fossil(化石) dinosaur bones--remains of the so-called "terrible lizards" that lived millions of years ago. The dinosaurs weren't really lizards, and most of them weren't even terrible. But some of the first dinosaur fossils ever found were huge bones and teeth, very lizard-like except for their size, and so the idea of monstrous lizards was born. Today, many ideas about dinosaurs are changing, and the fossils at this park continue to help us learn more about these fascinating animals.
C. With elevations ranging from 8,000 feet in the wet, grassy valleys to 14,259 feet at the weather-ravaged top of Long's Peak, a visitor to the park has opportunities for countless breathtaking experiences and adventures. So far to find 60 peaks rising above 12,000 feet challenge intrepid hikers and climbers.
D. The world's largest concentration of natural stone arches is found in this park. Over 1500 of these 'miracles of nature' grace the 73,000-acre area. And it is famous for the red arches of Entrada sandstone that occur there in great profusion A 41-mile round-trip paved road in the park leads to the major sights, including Balanced Rock, Skyline Arch, and the Fiery Furnace. But there are also many other striking rock formations scattered over the park's 73,000 scenic acres.
E. Yellowstone is the oldest park in the U.S. park system and is its flagship. Visitors come to experience the park's restless geology; to see grizzlies, gray wolves, and herds of buffalo. Its turbulent(狂暴的) landscape—which remains among the most geologically active lands on the planet, with steam-spewing geysers(间歇温泉), gurgling fumaroles, and frequent earthquakes—was protected as the world's first national park in 1872. Yellowstone and the huge tracts of national-forest land that ring it comprise one of the world's last intact temperate ecosystems—all its major species of plants and animals are still present.
F. This park has a Canyon 200 miles long and about a mile deep. Along the ride you follow the Colorado River which carved this massive canyon. At times the canyon is from 5 to 15 miles across. The Colorado River continues to shape and gouge its way through the canyon where about 90 species of mammals(哺乳动物) and some 290 species of birds live.
