Jane Austen is a novelist with an extremelynarrow focus that extends, surprisingly, into a wide range of concerns. Herbooks can be viewed most simply as eerily good romance novels, more broadly assharp critiques of nineteenth-century vanity, cruelty and folly, and--broadestof all--as an indictment of a social system and economic system dedicated tothe marginalization and commodification of a full half of the human experience.
The book's plot deals with the five Bennet sisters, whose fanatically prosaicmother obsesses over marrying off as quickly and as advantageously as possible. Most of the action centers on the two eldest Bennet girls: tiful Jane andpractical, quick-witted Elizabeth. The novel has a very simple structure(basically the progenitor of the romance novel): two people should be togetheron the first page and end up together on the last, with various complicationsto fill up the rest of the book. It's in the complications where the qualitiesmost come out that set Austen apart from her latter-day followers: wittydialogue, a sense of the brutality of indivial character, and a keen, analytical eye for rivulets of emotion running through the smooth-surfacedstream of everyday events.

Pride and Prejudice is a novel by Jane AustenThe story follows the main character Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, moral rightness, ecation and marriage in her aristocratic society of early 19th century England. Elizabeth is the second eldest of five daughters of a country gentleman landed in the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, not far from London.
Though the story's setting is uniquely turn of the 19th century, it retains a fascination for modern readers, continuing near the top of lists of 'most loved books' such as the Big Read. It still receives considerable attention from literary critics. This modern interest has resulted in a number of dramatic adaptations and an abundance of novels and stories imitating Austen's memorable characters or themes.
To date, the book has sold some 20 million copies worldwide.

About the story:
Jane Austen is this novel』 writer who is a famous writer in the world, and she is famoused with her a series of novel.s.
Mrs.Bennet had five daughters, and marrying all her daughters was her biggest wish .In a genteel ball, Mr. Bingley , a friendly young man, also the host, fell in love with Jane at first sight.Jane was Mrs.Bennet 's first daughter who was simple, pure and never speaks evil of others. Darcy ,who was Bingley 's good friend ,a very proud man who seemed to always feel superior, was fond of Jane』s sister,Elizabeth. But his arrogance behavior and the smear from Wickham led Elizabeth to misunderstand and was biassed against Darcy .
Darcy couldn't restrain himself from loving Elizabeth ,so he proposed to her.But his attitude was still so arrogant ,Elizabeth declined firmly. This hit made Darcy noticed the consequence from proud and conceited for the first time. Leaving a long letter to explain the things around him and Elizabeth, he left her painfully. She felt regret after reading it . Not only feel guilty for misunderstanding of Darcy , but also ashamed for the behavior of her mother.
Elizabeth graally changed her views of Darcy. When Darcy met her in his own manor again, his sincere attitude and dignified behavior made her considerably surprised. Finally ,they walked out of the frog which was pride and prejudice .It could be called a happy ending.
There are seven different marriages presented in the novel. Excluding the Gardiner and the Lucas, the remaining five marriages contrasts each other to reveal Jane』s opinions and thoughts on the subject of marriage.
The marriage between Darcy and Elizabeth reveals the characteristics which constitutes a successful marriage. One of these characteristics is that the feeling cannot be brought on by appearances, and must graally develop between the two people as they get to know one another. In the beginning, Elizabeth and Darcy were distant from each other because of their prejudice. The series of events which they both experienced gave them the opportunity to understand one another and the time to reconcile their feelings for each other. Thus, their mutual understanding is the foundation of their relationship and will lead them to a peaceful and lasting marriage. This relationship between Elizabeth and Darcy reveals the importance of getting to know one』s partner before marrying. The marriage between Jane Bennet and Bingley is also an example of successful marriage. Jane Austen, through Elizabeth, expresses her opinion of this in the novel.
The last example of a marriage is a of a different nature than the ones mentioned above. The marriage between Mr. Collins and Charlotte is based on economics rather than on love or appearance. It was a common practice ring Austen』s time for women to marry a husband to save herself from spinsterhood or to gain financial security. However, Jane Austen viewed this as a type of prostitution and disapproved of it. In Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen dramatizes this form of women inequality and show that women who submits themselves to this type of marriage will have to suffer in tormenting silence as Charlotte does.
In Pride and Prejudice, Jane has denounced the elements of marriage and society that she found distasteful. These are the conclusions of her observation of the people in her world. However in her writing, Jane has also reflected her own enjoyment in life among these people with and without their faults.
About my opinions:
Believe it or not,I have readed this story no less times no matter book movie. I readed it again and again, and the more time I read the story is more than a love story I found.
I like this story for the outsdanding characteristic of the characters.
A good book not only can bring you exciting, but also give you some further thingking. From the Pride and Prejudice,I lean a lot.First,it』s stupid to judge a person by the first impression and always have prejudice on the person who you don』t like.In a word,we can』t judge a person without any further reconigse or by other people』s words.Just like Elizabeth, under Wickham』s evil speaking she judge Darcy wad a pround and hatest man and began to have prejudice on him,and kept misunderstanding him.As a reselt, she was failed to see the merists of darcy.Other example,Mr.Binely persuadeed himself run away from falling in love with june for having heard Darcy』s word that June didn』t like him,at least no more deeper than him. This hurted two loved heart. They even almost missed each other. By the way,we can learn that pride sometimes will make you far away from others. You can』t deny that the country people didn』t like Darcy very much no matter how rich he.For,he always feels superior to the country people. And,because Darcy』s pround,he offended the girl he love.
Then, After reading this book, I couldn』t forget how eager Mrs.Bennet wants to marry off her daughters. Why is she so crazy about that?I know it』s because of money. money is very important for our lives. Money is required for food, shelter, and clothing, so many things in our life need money. With money, you can make your life more comfortable . You will be able to buy a big house with servants. But, Can money determine everything? How could a marriage maintain without love bue just for money? From the marriage between Charlotte Lucas and Mr. Collins, we found that their marriage totally depended on the position, money, and the background, not the love. Most women choose the men who can satisfy their material comforts to be their husbands at that time, just like Charlotte Lucas. She married Mr. Collins although she shared no common interests with him. She didn』t love him while she married him indeed. She persuaded herself to tolerate her husband』s strange and foolish behavior, and her only comfort was her big new house and rich material life. While in my eye, it』s really unfortunate to rest hope on the material comforts for her rest life. Although sometimes it』s necessary to consider the property, position, and background in the marriage, it』s stupit to marry just for the money. Charlotte Lucas married for the possession not love, and on the other hand, Mr. Collins married her because he needed a wife, not for love, either. Their marriage seemed to be necessary but not happy. But how to maintain the marriage without love? Fortunately,I don』t know more them in the end of the book.
About other readers』opinions;
1: After reading this book,so many opinions accured to me. It』s really a good book to make me think much. Only can I remember is—-money and marriage.2: he most popular among the Austen's volumes is Pride and Prejudice that takes the theme of love and marriage in a mildly humorous way of expression. As a female writer, she shows different attitudes toward marriage by depicting several young women of different descent, economic position and horizon of knowledge. A simple theme introces a great deal of what is about life. The whole book teems with authoress' wit and insight. And this inclination and intention cannot escape from the reach of her living circle and reveal some of her points about worldly life.3:Love perhas is deveople by misundersdanding which make lovers know more each other and fall in love with each other.Maybe we need forgivention sprit.4:As a lady ,I think ,we should take a more objective view to sentiment. Reputation is the most important thing in a girl』s life whenever and wherever, just as Elisabth.

The summarry of the <<Pride and prejudice>>
The main story of the film happens between Elizabeth Bennet and Darcy. Although, it seems that, they haven』t attracted anyone』s eyes. I mean that nobody has thought that love will exist between they two. Because almost everyone has heart of the complaint from their mouths about the other. So it is not surprise to see the father become so amazed when Lizzy says that she loves Darcy. But what』s the reason? What has stopped them from getting together at first? It』s price and prejudice. We all know that at the first ball, when Lizzy asked Mr Darcy to have a dance. He refused. He didn』t think that anyone at the village can deserve him. After this, Lizzy promised not to pay attention to him any more because of his pride.
There are another two things that make the impression of the hero worse on the herion. One is that she thinks it』s him he that had separated her sister and her lover. The second is that she heard of something bad ,fabricated by Wickham who has antinomies with Darcy. These make the feeling of prejudice stronger and stronger.
At last, when everything comes to light Lizzy regretted. She found that she had misunderstood him. And darcy has although changed . Not proud at all. He made an offer of marriage to her again and was accepted. No pride and no prejudice between each other.

❾ 傲慢與偏見 英文讀後感 500字
Love seems to be the perpetual theme all over the world. But actually what is love? For most girls in 20s, love may mean everything to them. They seek for love bravely no matter what difficulties they may face. In their eyes, love is pure or even holy. However, those are just an ideal situation, n real life; people tend to find a balance between love and property.
Pride and prejudice is Austin』s great work. Through the discussion of the different marriages and love, the writer demonstrates her concept about love and marriage: love and marriage is closely associated with property and society, however, love and marriage can not only be decided by the property and social status. An ideal marriage should be based on mutual affection, respect and the same interest. She rejects the marriage based only on wealth.
Different people have different ideas upon marriage. By the description and discussion of the four marriages in the novel, we can see that Austen fully expresses her views on love and marriage. Only by appreciating the marriage founded on the basis of mutual understanding and true love, but also by satirizing the marriage founded on the basis of origin and desire.
The marriage based on social position and money can』t bring happiness in life. Aimless marriage and love are unpractical.
Everything goes wrong for poor couples. Marriage based on wealth is not a fault. At least, it can offer us a better condition of life. Property is not everything in the life but without it, we can do nothing. This is called reality. But if you only married for wealth, you sell your liberty. The rest of your life might be miserable, and your marriage will filled with endless bitterness.

❿ 誰知道<傲慢與偏見>英文版內容簡介
Pride and Prejudice is a chefdoeuvre. But my first impression of this story was from screen.
It's long long ago, maybe before I can read english books. I don't remember which movie edition I had seen. But I was impressed by the music, the scenery and the costume. I was very favor of a section of music in its balls. It's pretty brisk, liked a wonderful song of a bird. Regarding to the characters, I liked Elizabeth, the heroine, though I didn't think she's beautiful. But she's smart. However, I didn't pay much attention to the plot. I thought it's so long that it made me impatient and bored. By now, I haven't read the whole story in English or its Chinese version, either. I owe it to my prejudice.
In fact, I didn't understand the story at that time. I didn't know why it called Pride and Prejudice. Of course someone was pride, but I didn't find where' s the prejudice. I thought it's normal, the way people treated each other in that. I considered prejudice would be very disgusting. But to the movie everthing was OK in my minds, except its length. Now, I think I have understood more about it. I'm a prejudiced person so I can't find where's wrong. I merely like to do the things I like. Everytime I meet somebody or something,my thinking about he or it all depends on my foregone experience and my mood of the time. I like it so just like it, if not so just not. I'm a person thinking by heart not by brain. What is worse, I actually didn't think it's wrong. I thought everyone is all like that.Everyone has his special way to cognize the world. So it's indiviality, not prejudice. But I think something is wrong. Though everyone can judge in the way he likes, he can't ignore other ones. You can like what you like and hate what you hate, but you should be objective when you meet external world. I think it means that you should consider things roundly, not just partial. Indiviality is different from prejudice. What is it? I need to think more.
