The protagonist, Jane Eyre, as the author depicted, is very plain. But almost every reader, including me, must prefer Jane to any other young ladies in this novel. I think Jane possesses a kind heart, an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit and great courage. She loves Mr. Rochester even more when loses his hand and sight. She never gives up her own independence and never easily follows the instructions or advices from people around her. Instead, Jane Eyre choose insist on her own beliefs and standards.
At first, Jane Eyre met her best friend, Helen Burns, in the Lowwood School. Though they two really intimate to each other, Jane cannot totally agree with Helen』s ideas about life and people. As Jane grows up, she choose to leave the school and work as a teacher, regardless of the critiques from others.
After the secret reveals that the insane woman in the old castle attic the insane woman is Mr. Rochester's wife, Jane Eyre is not willing to lose her dignity, condescends to her own desire. Actually, she leaves resolutely and silently.
Because of those kinds of brave and independent choices, Jane Eyre becomes one of the greatest women in my mind definitely.

A man is not made for defeat, a man can be destroyed but not defeated. This sentence has lingered in my mind since I finished the book」 The Old Man and the Sea」
In the face of fighting with this huge marlin, the old man did not release the fishing line in his hands for three days and nights, and the old man did not flinch when confronted with attack of sharks, but decided to pick up the wooden stick in the hands to defend their own harvest.
Such a tough guy image suddenly highlighted in front of me, which made me admire him and cheer for his strong mind. Challenge is of course nowhere in the present life. We need to learn from the old man who with a brave heart, in the face of challenges clenched his fist, rather than yield, avoid, and give up.
In the boundless sea, the old man was sitting alone in the little sailing boat, and seemed so small under the setting sun in the distance, extraordinarily slim. But the old man hadn』t caught one fish since 84days ago. In t such situation, the old man was still optimistic, looking at the sun rise and set, watching the looming moon, and enjoying the company of fish and birds, and talking with wind and water. He just became one part of the sea.
The sea, kind and beautiful, finally gave the old man a big marlin but the ocean was also cruel- lots of sharks came flooding to rob the fish, trying beating the old man and crushing his "glory". The old man's loneliness and happy were associated with the sea, through whom, the author enthusiastically praise the human』s bravery when facing hardships. So no matter how difficult the things are, we all can't give up ourselves.

"A tale of two cities" is one of Dickens's most important representative works．The novel profoundly exposed the society contradiction before the French Revolution，intensely attacks the aristocratic social class is dissolute and cruel，and sincerely sympathizes with the depressed classes．The novel also described many magnificent scenes like the revolt people attacked Bastille and so on，which displayed people's great strength．

As an outstanding writer，in Dickens's work，the language skill is essential．Each kind of rhetoric technique，like the analogy，the exaggeration，the contrast，the humorous，and the taunt are handled skillfully，and the artistry of the work is also delivered the peak．"A tale of two cities" has its difference with the general historical novel， its character and the main plot are all fictionalizes．With the broad real background of the French Revolution，the author take the fictional character Doctor Manette's experience as the main clue，interweaves the unjust charge， love and revenge three independences but also incident cross－correlation stories together，the plot is criss－crossed，and the clue is complex．The author use insert narrates，foreshadowing，upholstery and so many techniques，causes the structure integrity and strictness，the plot winding anxious and rich of theatrical nature，it displayed the remarkable artistic skill．the style "A tale of two cities" is solemnity and melancholy，fills indignantion，but lacks the humor of the early works．
