一、課外閱讀觀狀分析
1、沒有養成經常閱讀的習慣
中學生的學習生活比較緊湊，為了對付升學考試，在學校和家長的壓力下，整天圍繞著教科書或教輔讀物打轉，整天鑽在各種作業、練習題或試卷中。他們實際上用來課外閱讀的時間很少，根據一項調查表明，每天能用1小時閱讀課外書的學生不到15%，能夠閱讀半小時的學生也沒有超過30%。他們在星期天與節假日里進行的課外閱讀實際上只是課內閱讀的變種而已，受到外界因素很大的干擾，是缺乏主動性與積極性的。課業負擔沉重，能夠自己支配的時間少，加上特殊的年齡階段，只有少數的學生能夠有目的深入閱讀，並鑽研其中一些問題，多數的學生只是滿足於書中情節或興趣，只圖於內容的大致了解，這些並不是好的閱讀習慣。只有一個經常性，連續性的閱讀過程，才能培養形成好的閱讀習慣。只有養成經常性閱讀習慣，才會有平衡的讀書收獲。
2、課外閱讀傾向的偏差
現在的中學生喜歡讀哪些書呢？如果排除其他因素干擾，完全從自己的愛好出發，那麼我們會發現中學生們的閱讀興趣是豐富多樣的，他們大多喜歡科幻、散文隨筆、卡通漫畫、童話等題材的書籍。可是，也有一部分學生只把心思放在武俠、言情小說中。眼下的言情、武俠小說已不再是港台式的天下，大陸產的也是撲天蓋地，特別是又有另一種形態的網路言情小說，這些都迷得他們團團轉。最近圖書市場又出現一些另類書籍或稱為「口袋書」，內容都是即粗俗又無聊，甚至是充斥色情與暴力的。很多的學生也很快地看上癮了，認為是潮流與時髦，放著學校圖書館的書不借，跑到外面猛租來看。而眾多的國內外名著猶如昨日黃花，已然不是很受歡迎。對中學生而言，這些名著看起來很吃力，太難了，也看不太懂，更多的學生只是把閱讀名著看成是老師布置的課外作業來完成。在應試教育的壓力下，受社會流俗和大眾傳媒的影響，許多學生的閱讀興趣的傾向已出現了偏差。
3、沒有制定讀書計劃
課外書籍浩如煙海，魚龍混雜，並非每一本書都對中學生有價值。由於中學生的年齡特點，閱讀帶有很大的隨意性和盲目性，往往只憑個人興趣去閱讀，或心血來潮，或隨波逐流，有什麼書就看什麼書，看一本是一本，泛泛而讀，不注意加以選擇，這是沒有計劃的讀書。很多的中學生因為讀書沒有計劃，不僅造成了時間上的浪費，而且使讀書缺乏系統性，讀書效率不高，結果只是吸收了些雜亂無章的東西。鑒於中學生的求知慾旺盛，如果有科學的，完整的計劃讀一批有質量的書，肯定會使他們受益匪淺的。為此，教育部頒布最新教學大綱，第一次明確指定中學生課外文學必讀的30種文學名著和中學古詩詞背誦篇目，並具體規定初、高中學生的閱讀總量。這種推薦是有計劃的閱讀，但需要有教師的正確指導才能較好地實行。
4、沒有做好讀書筆記
有一大部份中學生有這樣的體驗，當提起筆在寫作文要旁徵博引時，不能引出個子丑寅卯；當與別人辨論要引經據典時，卻要搜腸括肚，尷尬之極。這種情況普遍的存在，主要原因是沒有做好讀書筆記。他們在讀書的時候，沒有做到既動腦又動手，懶得動手寫讀書筆記，只是看過則已，而後就不知所雲了。俗話說，好記性不如勤筆頭，經常撰寫讀書筆記有利於積累知識，貯存閱讀材料，能夠加深理解，增強記憶，促進思維從而推陳出新。中學生應該養成「不動筆墨不看書」的習慣，讀書時，對書中的格言警句、成語典故、優美詞語進行摘錄，或者把自己的體會、意見寫成心得體會或書評。現在有78%的中學生不能做到這一點，還未掌握這種正確的讀書方法，只停留於走馬觀花。
