My responsibilities are mainly to assist the sales manager and representatives with order tracking, stock reporting, document preparation and translation, using Excel, Word and PowerPoint. When the reps are on a business trip, I will deal with their share. Two thirds of my work involves computers, working on tables and forms precisely and quickly. In the last two performance evaluations, I got two Bs in a row. I can earn 3,000 only by becoming a director, which is almost impossible because the current one is stable and performs well; he is not likely to leave. But of course, I am not working only for money. Changing jobs is asking for trouble. I am doing so for my career. 21. Most employees and bosses have some disagreements. How did you react to these disagreements in your last job?

When I have disagreements with my boss, my first reaction is to double-check my opinions. My boss is an expert and he』s been proven right most of the time. If I do believe I』m right or partially right, I provide my boss with a detailed report listing all facts and numbers to prove my opinion. Because my boss is extremely busy, I need to make the report simple but powerful, to help him make the decision.

22. Why did you select this company?

To be honest, it would be ideal for me, a fresh graate who specializes in Accounting, to join any of the 「big 4s」(四大會計師事務所) because each of the 「big 4s」 has its own advantages. However, I』m particularly interested in KPMG for a very sentimental reason. I was completely fascinated by your career talk! Compared with yours, the other three companies are a bit boring, hehe.

23. Why did you decide to apply for this particular position?

For the past three years I』ve been doing a similar job. Though my current boss has given me a raise twice I』m still not quite pleased with my salary, I believe you can understand 1,800 Yuan is not a very good pay. There is no subway station nearby so I may have to take a bus every day. And I have to be more careful with my wallet and mobile phone, you know, pick pockets, hehe.

27. Tell me what you know about our company.

What I know about Kimberly(注釋: 金佰利) is partly from the Internet and newspaper, and partly from my own experience of using Kimberly procts. It』s a bit expensive, but I can』t resist it!

It means a man or woman is always satisfied with his/her own child, but not with the spouse, hehe. My mother is just like this. She tells everybody that I am hard working, more hard working than I should be. She says I am trustworthy and independent, never giving her troubles. You know, she sent me to boarding school at 14.

29. What do you consider your strengths as an employee?

I have good time management skills. As an assistant I often have several things in my hands at the same time so I have to manage my time well to work effectively. I paste a very big Monthly Schele on the walls at the office and at home, adding arrangements like sales meetings or friends』 birthday parties anytime they are scheled. So I am very organized both at work and in personal life, never missing important events and deadlines.

30. What do you see as your weaknesses as an employee?

31. What factors in a work situation motivate you?

There are many, hehe, I』m easily motivated. Money; of course; is a key motivator. The sense of achievement also motivates me a lot, say, winning honors, being praised by boss, clients and colleagues. In addition, pressure can provide motivation for me, too.

I expect to have a salary between 4,000 and 5,000 as this is the average salary the students of our school can get. But we can negotiate that. As a new graate I care about career development opportunities more than the starting salary. As to the salary in five years, frankly speaking, I haven』t even thought about it. The more the better, but of course, it depends on what I can do for the company.

1、”What are your goals for the future?” or “Where do you see yourself in five years?”

Don’t discuss your goals for returning to school or having a family, they are not relevant and could knock you out of contention for the job. Rather, you want to connect your answer to the job you are applying for.

-My long-term goals involve growing with a company where I can continue to learn, take on additional responsibilities, and contribute as much of value as I can.

-I see myself as a top performing employee in a well-established organization, like this one. I plan on enhancing my skills and continuing my involvement in (related) professional associations.

-Once I gain additional experience, I would like to move on from a technical position to management.

-In the XYZ Corporation, what is a typical career path for someone with my skills and experiences?

2、Tell me about yourself/ How would you describe yourself?

You walk into the interview room, shake hands with your interviewer and sit down with your best interviewing smile on. Guess what their first question is? “Tell me about yourself.” Your interviewer is not looking for a 10-minute dissertation here. Instead, offer a razor sharp sentence or two that sets the stage for further discussion and sets you apart from your competitors.

Your Unique Selling Proposition (USP)

Give them “your synopsis about you” answer, specifically your Unique Selling Proposition. Known as a personal branding or a value-added statement, the USP is a succinct, one-sentence description of who you are, your biggest strength and the major benefit that a company will derive from this strength. Here is an example of a Unique Selling Proposition: “I’m a seasoned Retail Manager strong in developing training programs and loss prevention techniques that have resulted in revenue savings of over $2.3Million for (employer’s name) ring the past 11 years.”

What a difference you’ve made with this statement. Your interviewer is now sitting forward in her chair giving you her full attention. At this point, you might add the following sentence: “I’d like to discuss how I might be able to do something like that for you.” The ball is now back in her court and you have the beginnings of a real discussion and not an interrogation process.

“My background to date has been centered around preparing myself to become the very best financial consultant I can become. Let me tell you specifically how I’ve prepared myself. I am an undergraate student in finance and accounting at _________ University. My past experiences has been in retail and higher ecation. Both aspects have prepared me well for this career.”

Do they want to know about your career so far, about your hobbies or family life? If in doubt, ASK them to clarify what they wish you to talk about. Then give a short factual answer, ending with “is there anything else you’d like to know about me?”

How would you describe yourself?

Try to think about what the interviewers are looking for and keep this in mind as you answer interview questions. Remember the job advert? Were they looking for initiative, a good communicator, someone with good attention to detail? Describe yourself in these terms. Start with “I am..” and not with “I think…” or “I believe..” so that you sound self aware and confident.

3、When you’re interviewing for an internal position within your company, you may be asked what you will do if you don’t get the job. The interviewer wants to know whether you are concerned about just the advancement opportunity or the company.

I am committed to this company and its advancement so, should I not be selected, I will work with and support whoever might get selected. However, I do feel that my experience in the department and with the team would make me the best candidate

4、How would your boss describe you?

If you get the job, your interviewer may be your future boss so you need to answer this question carefully. Describe yourself as any boss would want to see you. You might say:

“My boss would describe me as hard working, loyal, friendly and committed. He would say that I work well on my own initiative and deliver what he wants on time and to a high standard”.

Again, don’t use the term “I think my boss would say..” as it gives an element of doubt. Be positive and certain with the interview answer you give.

5、What motivates you?

I am motivated by being around other positive people, we might question if working alone would suit them.

I am motivated by targets.

6、What do you look for in a job?

This is really a question about suitability, though we’ve included it here.

Remember the advert? Focus on the advert criteria and you won’t go far wrong. For example, if the advert called for someone to lead others, you might say:

“I like a job where I can lead and motivate others and enjoy seeing improvements in team performance”.

If the advert called for a target-focused indivial, you might say:

“I like having targets. They encourage me to stretch myself and beat them!”

7、What is your personal mission statement or motto?

Not everyone has one, but because you might be asked, think what yours would be.

“Just do it!”

“Right first time, every time”.

“Less talk, more action”.

“Treat others as you’d wish to be treated”.

“Fortune favours the brave”.

“Quality, quality, quality…”.

Our advice: This is one of those times when we ask candidates to explain their answers to our interview questions. So, whatever you say, it’s likely you’ll be asked to give a reason or example so have one in mind. For most jobs, you want to sound positive and motivated, but possibly not ruthless or inconsiderate.

8、What do you enjoy most about what you do now?

“I really enjoy the technical nature of the job and the speed at which I’m able to fix faults. I get a lot of satisfaction from getting people back to work as soon as possible”.

If working as part of a team is mentioned as a requirement of the job, you might answer:

“I really enjoy being part of a team. I like it when the team pulls together to achieve something and everyone can take some credit”.

9、 What do you enjoy least about your current role?

A good interview answer might go something like this:

“Actually, I enjoy everything about what I do. I suppose if I had to give something up, it would be…”

The ‘something’ depends on you, but it’s best to mention something incidental to your job, like admin or paperwork. So you might say:

“I’m not sure (pause). I suppose if I had to pick something to give up it would be paperwork. I know it’s important, and I do it well, but if someone else did if for me, that would be great!”

10、 Why do you want to leave your current job/company?

If you’re applying for a more senior job, you might answer:

“I really enjoy what I do, but I’m ready for more responsibility and challenge which your job offers. Unfortunately, my current job/employer can’t give me this.”

If this isn’t the reason, use yours instead, but always be positive in your answers to tough interview question

11、What do you think of your current boss?

“My current boss is great. He sets the team challenging but realistic targets and motivates us to achieve them…”

“My current boss is very good. She deals with her team firmly but fairly and enjoys our respect because of this…”

If your current boss is not great, and you are prepared to answer more interview questions about this, say so, but do balance each criticism with a positive point. Remember the need to appear positive in your answers to interview questions. You might say:

“My current boss has strengths and weaknesses. He is very good at listening to people but sometimes, in my view, doesn’t deal with underperformers firmly enough. This affects team morale sometimes…”

12、What will you miss about your present job?

People is the best interview answer here. Say anything else and you’re suggesting the job you’re applying for won’t give you everything you had and more, and might even leave you wanting!

As you think about answers to interview questions, always have in mind the need to create a positive impression.

“Well I’m confident that the job you’re offering will give me everything I have now and more so I don’t think I’ll miss anything about the job itself. But I’ll miss some of the people of course…”

13、What can you tell me about XYZ Company?

If you need to, start by saying “Is it ok if I refer to my notes?”. When you get the nod, off you go.

A good interview answer should include short factual statements covering such things as the Company’s history, its procts, staff numbers, turnover and future business objectives. Something like this is fine:

“I believe the Company began in 1967, with just one outlet, but now has 25. From what I’ve read, you sell A, B and C procts across Europe and the States and have a turnover in excess of $5 million. You employ 125 staff. I beleive you hope to enter the Asian market by 2010″. “I’ve done some research and can tell you more if you like”.

You will likely hear “No, that’s fine. Thank you.”

Your interviewers will be impressed that you prepared and made notes and you’re off to a good start.

14、What do you think XYZ Company can offer you?

There are two bits to this interview question, the role and the Company. Mention both. You might say:

“I’m told the Company has a firm commitment to indivial training and development. This is great news for me because I’m keen to learn and advance in the Company. The role itself appears challenging and rewarding which I’ll find very motivating”.

15、If you’re successful, what do you think you’ll be doing day-to-day?

You might start by saying “I understand that I’ll be…”. Then you could talk about the main role, any other activities and any targets you expect to be given.

16、What are your strengths/weaknesses?

IMPORTANT — this common job interview question can be asked in many different ways, such as “What qualities do you admire in others that you would like to develop in yourself?”

Strengths should be easy enough to think about (keep the position in mind).

Talking about weaknesses can be harder but good interview answers are still possible. Many people choose to mention something which they’ve recognized as being a weakness but have overcome.

“I’d like to be more organized, like one of my colleagues. She doesn’t have to try. But because I don’t find it as easy as her, I use to-do lists and a diary to help me successfully manage my work”.

On a final note, it’s much safer to highlight your lack of experience or knowledge as a weakness than a fault in your personality. Employers can always give you experience but few want to help you overcome shortcomings in your personality! So avoid telling interviewers that you “get bored” or “too involved” or “frustrated”!

17、Why did you think you are suited to this job?

What they are really asking is “You know what we are looking for so can you tell us what you have done or what you have, that is relevant.”

18、Why should we give the job to you above other applicants?

This is often our closing question. We want to know, in a nutshell, why you are the best candidate for the job. This is a chance to list your best attributes as they relate to the vacancy. Don’t be cocky, but don’t be shy.

19、How well do you work under pressure?

“I know that all jobs involve some sort of pressure at some time. I can work as well under pressure as I do at any other time but when I am busy, I prioritize activities so that my workload is manageable.”

If the interviewers focus on other pressure, such as pressure to meet targets, dealing with difficult customers etc, give an appropriate reply, mentioning past situations where you have coped under such pressure.

20、What sort of people do you find it difficult to work with?

“I am an easy going person who seems to get on with everyone. If I have to pick a type of person that bothers me, it’s the one who doesn’t pull their weight or isn’t worried about the standard of their work because it reflects badly on the rest of the team.”

21、Sell me this pen!

In interviews for sales job, you may hear this, believe us! In fact, one of us had a non-sales interview and was asked this, unexpectedly. The object you are asked to sell could in fact be anything. Some interviewers like to see whether you focus on the benefits of the object or its features. The features of the pen might be that it’s blue, with a roller ball and plastic coating. The benefits might be that it’s reliable, easy to hold and leak proof.

22、What key skills do you think you need to be successful in this role?

You got this far because your job application form or resume or CV matched the interviewers’ criteria as specified in the job advert. Just expand on this in your job interview answers. List the skills you think are required, giving a little explanation as to why each is needed.

You might then be asked to give examples where you’ve used one or more of these skills. These are behavioural interview questions.

23、Where do you see yourself in five years time?

This can be a difficult job interview question to answer, especially if you’ve not thought beyond getting this job! When you answer, you want to sound ambitious enough to be motivated to do a good job, but not too ambitious in case your interviewers think you’re only using this job as a stepping stone to something better.

I can be successful in this job and taken on additional responsibilities and be considered suitable for promotion.

24、How does this job fit into your career plans?

This is a similar job interview question to the one above really, except that it looks beyond five years. Be realistic. You might say something like this if you’re going for a middle-management position:

“My ambition is to lead a department and be involved in strategic decision-making at a senior level. I expect the role I’m applying for to give me more experience of leading and some introction to strategy so that I’m ready for a senior role in a few years time”.

25、Where did you think you’d be at this stage in your life?

Avoid saying further than you are now! It’s better to show you’ve met or exceeded your ambitions than fallen short of them. Tell the interviewers that you are happy with your life and career, but are looking for more challenge as you like to stretch yourself to achieve more.

26、If you could start again, what career decisions would you make differently?

You’re on sticky ground if you start trying to think of hypothetical career changes that might have served you better in the past. Your answers to interview questions will suggest you’re not happy with the way things are and no-one wants to hire an unhappy person.

“I wouldn’t change anything. I am happy with my career as it is now but want fresh challenges.”

“I’m not the kind of person who looks back with regrets. I prefer to invest my energy looking forward”.

27、 How would you approach a typical project?

If you’re applying for a project based job, such as a project manager, you will be asked this job interview question. Don’t give a long winded answer, but try to demonstrate that you would take into account the main components of effective project planning such as:

– Planning the schele backwards from completion

– Working out what you need to get the job done effectively and on time

– Budgeting — costs, time and resources

– Allowing a contingency

28、How would you get the best from people?

If you are applying for any management role, it is highly likely you’ll be asked this job interview question. The kind of skills that we’d be looking for in a good applicant are:

– Good communication

– Teamwork skills

– Recognizing what each person can bring

– Setting a good example

– Praising good performances

29、 Give us an example of how you have resolved conflict.

As this is a behavioural interview question, you need to find an example of conflict that you have resolved. The sort of skills you need to demonstrate in your interview answer are:

– Fairness

– Discussing problems with indivials in private

– Making sure you get to the root of the problem

如果不一致,則要說明報考專業對你的吸引力(…appeals to/attracts me a lot)。

可參考的詞彙、短語如下:be helpful, contribute to, be beneficial to, be conctive to, be a definite advantage, become a strong point when it comes to…

(In my work, I found … is rather important. I always believe that one will easily lag behind unless he keeps on learning. So I choose to go back to school and improve myself。)。

What do you expect to achieve ring your study if you are enrolled into this university?

Can you introce yourself briefly/ say something about yourself後再開始。

Where are you from? Could you say something about your hometown?

Could you say something about your family?

What do you usually do in your leisure time?

What’s your favorite TV program?

Who is the most important person in your family?

"What would you like to be doing five years after graation?"("在畢業以後5年內你想做些什麼?")

Know what you can realistically accomplish. You can find out by talking to others MBA about what they accomplished in their first five years with a particular company after graation.

"I hope to do my best I can be at my job and because many in this line of work are promoted to area manager, I am planning on that also."

"What is your greatest strength"?" ("

"What is your greatest weakness?"("你最大的`弱點是什麼?")

"How do you feel about your progress to date?" Never apologize for what you have done.

"I think I did well in school. In fact, in a number of courses I received the highest exam scores in the class."

This is the end of the test, thank you。 Thank you for your interview goodbye.

絕跡祥-i see myself as a top performing employee in a well-established organization, like this one. i plan on enhancing my skills and continuing my involvement in (related) professional associations.

“tell me about yourself.” your interviewer is not looking for a 10-minute dissertation here. instead, offer a razor sharp sentence or two that sets the stage for further discussion and sets you apart from your competitors.

give them “your synopsis about you” answer, specifically your unique selling proposition. known as a personal branding or a value-added statement, the usp is a succinct, one-sentence description of who you are, your biggest strength and the major benefit that a company will derive from this strength. here is an example of a unique selling proposition: “i’m a seasoned retail manager strong in developing training programs and loss prevention techniques that have resulted in revenue savings of over $2.3million for (employer’s name) ring the past 11 years.”

what a difference you’ve made with this statement. your interviewer is now sitting forward in her chair giving you her full attention. at this point, you might add the following sentence: “i’d like to discuss how i might be able to do something like that for you.” the ball is now back in her court and you have the beginnings of a real discussion and not an interrogation process.

首先要明確他們想了解的是哪方面的內容do they want to know about your career so far, about your hobbies or family life? if in doubt, ask them to clarify what they wish you to talk about. then give a short factual answer, ending with “is there anything else you’d like to know about me?”

how would you describe yourself?

try to think about what the interviewers are looking for and keep this in mind as you answer interview questions. remember the job advert? were they looking for initiative, a good communicator, someone with good attention to detail? describe yourself in these terms. start with “i am..” and not with “i think…” or “i believe..” so that you sound self aware and confident.

“i believe the company began in 1967, with just one outlet, but now has 25. from what i’ve read, you sell a, b and c procts across europe and the states and have a turnover in excess of $5 million. you employ 125 staff. i beleive you hope to enter the asian market by ′.

- planning the schele backwards from completion

- working out what you need to get the job done effectively and on time

- budgeting — costs, time and resources

- allowing a contingency

28、how would you get the best from people?

if you are applying for any management role, it is highly likely you’ll be asked this job interview question. the kind of skills that we’d be looking for in a good applicant are:

- good communication

- teamwork skills

- recognizing what each person can bring

- setting a good example

- praising good performances

29、 give us an example of how you have resolved conflict.

as this is a behavioural interview question, you need to find an example of conflict that you have resolved. the sort of skills you need to demonstrate in your interview answer are:

- fairness

- discussing problems with indivials in private

- making sure you get to the root of the problem

- finding a solution that everyone will accept

30、what did you look for when you hired people in the past?

this is a general question. don’t think about specific skills of the job you are applying for. think generally about the key attributes everyone looks for in a good applicant. among others, these include:

- aptitude

- skills

- initiative

- flexibility

- commitment

Q: How long would you like to stay with this company?(你會在本公司服務多久呢?)

The one dreaded question that is guaranteed to come up in every interview is "What is your greatest weakness?" Perhaps it's the interviewer's way of weeding out candidates to see who is truly prepared to answer this uncomfortable question. Regardless, you can remove some of the awkwardness by prepping for the question and following these rules.

1. Don't give a cop-out answer

Please don't give tired answers like, "My greatest weakness is that I'm too much of aperfectionist/workaholic." Perhaps it is true for you, but unfortunately, it may bring false to the interviewer who is used to hearing these generic answers that come off as a way to dodge the question.

2. Be honest

Dig deep into yourself and figure out what your true weaknesses are at work. Write them down on a sheet of paper, and figure out which ones you can use in an interview. If you state a weakness you've struggled with, your answer will sound more honest. Some things that will help you come up with true weaknesses is to look at some of the challenges you have faced in your previous jobs or think aboutconstructive criticism you've received from a manager.

3. Avoid deal breakers

Although we mention that you should be honest, it's also good to remember that there is such a thing as being too honest. You need to avoid weaknesses that will hurt your chances of getting the job. For example, say if you're applying for an HR position and you say that you're not good with people, or if you're trying for a sales job and you say you are bad at negotiating. This doesn't mean that you have to make up a weakness, but it's just preferable for you to pick another weakness that isn't a deal breaker.

4. Talk about your attempts to overcome your weakness

Always talk about the steps you have taken to overcome your weakness. This is your chance to show the interviewer that although you have your flaws, you are proactive and resourceful enough to overcome them. In a way, your effort to conquer your weaknesses will be looked at as a strength.

Wouldn't it be great if you knew exactly what a hiring manager would be asking you in your next interview?

While we unfortunately can't read minds, we'll give you the next best thing: a list of the 31 most commonly asked interview questions and answers.

While we don't recommend having a canned response for every interview question (in fact, please don't), we do recommend spending some time getting comfortable with what you might be asked, what hiring managers are really looking for in your responses, and what it takes to show that you're the right man or woman for the job.

Consider this your interview study guide.

1. Can you tell me a little about yourself?

This question seems simple, so many people fail to prepare for it, but it's crucial. Here's the deal: Don't give your complete employment (or personal) history. Instead give a pitch—one that’s concise and compelling and that shows exactly why you’re the right fit for the job. Start off with the 2-3 specific accomplishments or experiences that you most want the interviewer to know about, then wrap up talking about how that prior experience has positioned you for this specific role.

2. How did you hear about the position?

Another seemingly innocuous interview question, this is actually a perfect opportunity to stand out and show your passion for and connection to the company. For example, if you found out about the gig through a friend or professional contact, name drop that person, then share why you were so excited about it. If you discovered the company through an event or article, share that. Even if you found the listing through a random job board, share what, specifically, caught your eye about the role.

3. What do you know about the company?

Any candidate can read and regurgitate the company’s “About” page. So, when interviewers ask this, they aren't necessarily trying to gauge whether you understand the mission—they want to know whether you care about it. Start with one line that shows you understand the company's goals, using a couple key words and phrases from the website, but then go on to make it personal. Say, “I’m personally drawn to this mission because…” or “I really believe in this approach because…” and share a personal example or two.

4. Why do you want this job?

Again, companies want to hire people who are passionate about the job, so you should have a great answer about why you want the position. (And if you don't? You probably should apply elsewhere.) First, identify a couple of key factors that make the role a great fit for you (e.g., “I love customer support because I love the constant human interaction and the satisfaction that comes from helping someone solve a problem"), then share why you love the company (e.g., “I’ve always been passionate about ecation, and I think you guys are doing great things, so I want to be a part of it”).

5. Why should we hire you?

This interview question seems forward (not to mention intimidating!), but if you're asked it, you're in luck: There's no better setup for you to sell yourself and your skills to the hiring manager. Your job here is to craft an answer that covers three things: that you can not only do the work, you can deliver great results; that you'll really fit in with the team and culture; and that you'd be a better hire than any of the other candidates.

6. What are your greatest professional strengths?

When answering this question, interview coach Pamela Skillings recommends being accurate (share your true strengths, not those you think the interviewer wants to hear); relevant (choose your strengths that are most targeted to this particular position); and specific (for example, instead of “people skills,” choose “persuasive communication” or “relationship building”). Then, follow up with an example of how you've demonstrated these traits in a professional setting.

7. What do you consider to be your weaknesses?

What your interviewer is really trying to do with this question—beyond identifying any major red flags—is to gauge your self-awareness and honesty. So, “I can't meet a deadline to save my life” is not an option—but neither is “Nothing! I'm perfect!” Strike a balance by thinking of something that you struggle with but that you’re working to improve. For example, maybe you’ve never been strong at public speaking, but you've recently volunteered to run meetings to help you be more comfortable when addressing a crowd.

8. What is your greatest professional achievement?

Nothing says “hire me” better than a track record of achieving amazing results in past jobs, so don't be shy when answering this interview question! A great way to do so is by using the S-T-A-R method: Set up the situation and the task that you were required to complete to provide the interviewer with background context (e.g., “In my last job as a junior analyst, it was my role to manage the invoicing process”), but spend the bulk of your time describing what you actually did (the action) and what you achieved (the result). For example, “In one month, I streamlined the process, which saved my group 10 man-hours each month and reced errors on invoices by 25%.”

9. Tell me about a challenge or conflict you've faced at work, and how you dealt with it.

In asking this interview question, “your interviewer wants to get a sense of how you will respond to conflict. Anyone can seem nice and pleasant in a job interview, but what will happen if you’re hired and Gladys in Compliance starts getting in your face?” says Skillings. Again, you'll want to use the S-T-A-R method, being sure to focus on how you handled the situation professionally and proctively, and ideally closing with a happy ending, like how you came to a resolution or compromise.

10. Where do you see yourself in five years?

If asked this question, be honest and specific about your future goals, but consider this: A hiring manager wants to know a) if you've set realistic expectations for your career, b) if you have ambition (a.k.a., this interview isn't the first time you're considering the question), and c) if the position aligns with your goals and growth. Your best bet is to think realistically about where this position could take you and answer along those lines. And if the position isn’t necessarily a one-way ticket to your aspirations? It’s OK to say that you’re not quite sure what the future holds, but that you see this experience playing an important role in helping you make that decision.

11. What's your dream job?

Along similar lines, the interviewer wants to uncover whether this position is really in line with your ultimate career goals. While “an NBA star” might get you a few laughs, a better bet is to talk about your goals and ambitions—and why this job will get you closer to them.

12. What other companies are you interviewing with?

Companies ask this for a number of reasons, from wanting to see what the competition is for you to sniffing out whether you're serious about the instry. “Often the best approach is to mention that you are exploring a number of other similar options in the company's instry,” says job search expert Alison Doyle. “It can be helpful to mention that a common characteristic of all the jobs you are applying to is the opportunity to apply some critical abilities and skills that you possess. For example, you might say 'I am applying for several positions with IT consulting firms where I can analyze client needs and translate them to development teams in order to find solutions to technology problems.'”

13. Why are you leaving your current job?

This is a toughie, but one you can be sure you'll be asked. Definitely keep things positive—you have nothing to gain by being negative about your past employers. Instead, frame things in a way that shows that you're eager to take on new opportunities and that the role you’re interviewing for is a better fit for you than your current or last position. For example, “I’d really love to be part of proct development from beginning to end, and I know I’d have that opportunity here.” And if you were let go? Keep it simple: “Unfortunately, I was let go,” is a totally OK answer.

14. Why were you fired?

OK, if you get the admittedly much tougher follow-up question as to why you were let go (and the truth isn't exactly pretty), your best bet is to be honest (the job-seeking world is small, after all). But it doesn't have to be a deal-breaker. Share how you’ve grown and how you approach your job and life now as a result. If you can position the learning experience as an advantage for this next job, even better.

15. What are you looking for in a new position?

Hint: Ideally the same things that this position has to offer. Be specific.

16. What type of work environment do you prefer?

Hint: Ideally one that's similar to the environment of the company you're applying to. Be specific.

17. What's your management style?

The best managers are strong but flexible, and that's exactly what you want to show off in your answer. (Think something like, “While every situation and every team member requires a bit of a different strategy, I tend to approach my employee relationships as a coach...”) Then, share a couple of your best managerial moments, like when you grew your team from five to 15 or coached an underperforming employee to become the company's top salesperson.

18. What's a time you exercised leadership?

Depending on what's more important for the the role, you'll want to choose an example that showcases your project management skills (spearheading a project from end to end, juggling multiple moving parts) or one that shows your ability to confidently and effectively rally a team. And remember: “The best stories include enough detail to be believable and memorable,” says Skillings. “Show how you were a leader in this situation and how it represents your overall leadership experience and potential.”

19. What's a time you disagreed with a decision that was made at work?

Everyone disagrees with the boss from time to time, but in asking this interview question, hiring managers want to know that you can do so in a proctive, professional way. “You don’t want to tell the story about the time when you disagreed but your boss was being a jerk and you just gave in to keep the peace. And you don’t want to tell the one where you realized you were wrong,” says Peggy McKee of Career Confidential. “Tell the one where your actions made a positive difference on the outcome of the situation, whether it was a work-related outcome or a more effective and proctive working relationship.”

20. How would your boss and co-workers describe you?

First of all, be honest (remember, if you get this job, the hiring manager will be calling your former bosses and co-workers!). Then, try to pull out strengths and traits you haven't discussed in other aspects of the interview, such as your strong work ethic or your willingness to pitch in on other projects when needed.

21. Why was there a gap in your employment?

If you were unemployed for a period of time, be direct and to the point about what you’ve been up to (and hopefully, that’s a litany of impressive volunteer and other mind-enriching activities, like blogging or taking classes). Then, steer the conversation toward how you will do the job and contribute to the organization: “I decided to take a break at the time, but today I’m ready to contribute to this organization in the following ways.”

22. Can you explain why you changed career paths?

Don't be thrown off by this question—just take a deep breath and explain to the hiring manager why you've made the career decisions you have. More importantly, give a few examples of how your past experience is transferrable to the new role. This doesn't have to be a direct connection; in fact, it's often more impressive when a candidate can make seemingly irrelevant experience seem very relevant to the role.

23. How do you deal with pressure or stressful situations?

"Choose an answer that shows that you can meet a stressful situation head-on in a proctive, positive manner and let nothing stop you from accomplishing your goals," says McKee. A great approach is to talk through your go-to stress-rection tactics (making the world's greatest to-do list, stopping to take 10 deep breaths), and then share an example of a stressful situation you navigated with ease.

24. What would your first 30, 60, or 90 days look like in this role?

Start by explaining what you'd need to do to get ramped up. What information would you need? What parts of the company would you need to familiarize yourself with? What other employees would you want to sit down with? Next, choose a couple of areas where you think you can make meaningful contributions right away. (e.g., “I think a great starter project would be diving into your email marketing campaigns and setting up a tracking system for them.”) Sure, if you get the job, you (or your new employer) might decide there’s a better starting place, but having an answer prepared will show the interviewer where you can add immediate impact—and that you’re excited to get started.

25. What are your salary requirements?

The #1 rule of answering this question is doing your research on what you should be paid by using sites like Payscale and Glassdoor. You’ll likely come up with a range, and we recommend stating the highest number in that range that applies, based on your experience, ecation, and skills. Then, make sure the hiring manager knows that you're flexible. You're communicating that you know your skills are valuable, but that you want the job and are willing to negotiate.

26. What do you like to do outside of work?

Interviewers ask personal questions in an interview to “see if candidates will fit in with the culture [and] give them the opportunity to open up and display their personality, too,” says longtime hiring manager Mitch Fortner. “In other words, if someone asks about your hobbies outside of work, it’s totally OK to open up and share what really makes you tick. (Do keep it semi-professional, though: Saying you like to have a few beers at the local hot spot on Saturday night is fine. Telling them that Monday is usually a rough day for you because you’re always hungover is not.)”

27. If you were an animal, which one would you want to be?

Seemingly random personality-test type questions like these come up in interviews generally because hiring managers want to see how you can think on your feet. There's no wrong answer here, but you'll immediately gain bonus points if your answer helps you share your strengths or personality or connect with the hiring manager. Pro tip: Come up with a stalling tactic to buy yourself some thinking time, such as saying, “Now, that is a great question. I think I would have to say… ”

28. How many tennis balls can you fit into a limousine?

1,000? 10,000? 100,000? Seriously?

Well, seriously, you might get asked brainteaser questions like these, especially in quantitative jobs. But remember that the interviewer doesn’t necessarily want an exact number—he wants to make sure that you understand what’s being asked of you, and that you can set into motion a systematic and logical way to respond. So, just take a deep breath, and start thinking through the math. (Yes, it’s OK to ask for a pen and paper!)

29. Are you planning on having children?

Questions about your family status, gender (“How would you handle managing a team of all men?”), nationality (“Where were you born?”), religion, or age, are illegal—but they still get asked (and frequently). Of course, not always with ill intent—the interviewer might just be trying to make conversation—but you should definitely tie any questions about your personal life (or anything else you think might be inappropriate) back to the job at hand. For this question, think: “You know, I’m not quite there yet. But I am very interested in the career paths at your company. Can you tell me more about that?”

30. What do you think we could do better or differently?

This is a common one at startups (and one of our personal favorites here at The Muse). Hiring managers want to know that you not only have some background on the company, but that you're able to think critically about it and come to the table with new ideas. So, come with new ideas! What new features would you love to see? How could the company increase conversions? How could customer service be improved? You don’t need to have the company’s four-year strategy figured out, but do share your thoughts, and more importantly, show how your interests and expertise would lend themselves to the job.

31. Do you have any questions for us?

You probably already know that an interview isn't just a chance for a hiring manager to grill you—it's your opportunity to sniff out whether a job is the right fit for you. What do you want to know about the position? The company? The department? The team?

You'll cover a lot of this in the actual interview, so have a few less-common questions ready to go. We especially like questions targeted to the interviewer (“What's your favorite part about working here?") or the company's growth (“What can you tell me about your new procts or plans for growth?")

Q: Please say something except your self-introction.

A: You mean about my self-introction?

(I think he has some Arabian Accent. Is he from Arabian countries?

No, I am pretty sure he is definitely a Chinese, one of my people.)

Q: No, anything except your self-introction.

A: Oh, sorry. Can I speak something about my job criteria?

Q: Criteria? What is criteria? What does that mean?

A: It means the standards or expectations when I'm looking for a job.

Q: Ok. Say something about that.

A: All right. First, I wanna know what I could learn from the job. That

means...

(He was communicating with other staff of Huawei about something, I

thought he might be busying in something so I stopped and waited for

him to finish.)

Q: Please go on. I'm listening.

A: OK, that means what my future would be if I took the job...

(He's still talking to other in Chinese, so I stopped again.)

Q: Please go on.

A: OK. The second is that I wanna know if it is something that I really

want, that means ... that means if I could totally devote myself in

the job... , the third is ... if I am qualified for the job...

(I stopped several times because he talked to two other guys and answered

a phonecall to his cell ring the conversation.)

Q: I've noticed on your resume that you worked in ###(a company's name) for

only 4 months, why did you quit?

A: Well, I must say...(I was interrupted because he's talking to another guy

again.) I must say that I was too young and not so mutural at that time.

I think I was not well prepared to begin my professional career in my

heart...(He answered another phonecall)

Q: How old were you at that time?

A: 22.

Q: You're 22, and you said you're not matural?

A: I think sometimes maturaty is not related only to the age...

(He answered his cell again, but this time he stepped forward to the window.

The call lasted about 5 minutes. I was still waiting, and then he came back.)

A: ...(I was about to continue but I was interrupted again.)

Q: Mr. Zhang, you must know Huawei is a international company, and it's procts

are sold in international, it's international. (I think 'Huawei is an

internationalized company' would be good alternative to the three sentences

he just said.)So the English is very important to our employees, but your

english does not reach to our requirements. So, I think you're not appropriate

for our company.

A: OK. So can I take my resume back? (Well, now I must admit that I'm still not

matural enough.)

Q: OK.

A: Thank you.

比如「This part of improvement, uh... ..., I was one of the main contributors. And.... ... I've been driving it even further afterwards "。
