3.指讀
指讀是指用手指、鉛筆或尺子等指著一個個詞進行閱讀的習慣。這種指讀的單純機械運用不僅會減慢閱讀速度，而且還會把我們的注意力引向錯誤的方向。一個高效率的閱讀者不會注意單詞的位置，也不會在每個單詞上平均花費時間，而是把注意力集中在作者要闡明的思想內容上。指讀的習慣實際上妨礙了眼睛運動並限制了大腦的快速活動能力。因此，必須克服這種不良的閱讀習慣，逐漸養成用腦瞬間反映文字信息的能力。
4.復視
復視指的是讀完一個句子或段落後回過頭去重復閱讀。閱讀能力差的朋友往往過分依賴於復視以養成一種習慣。改變這種不良習慣的辦法就是讓自己閱讀大量難度適宜的讀物，這樣就不會因遇到生詞或不太懂的短語、句子或段落而回過頭來再看，以至養成復視的習慣。
5.頭的擺動
閱讀時頭部下意識地左右擺動是閱讀的另一壞習慣。在閱讀過程中，有些人往往盡量使自己的鼻尖對准他正在讀的每一個字。這樣，當他順著一行字往下讀時，他就會輕微地擺動頭部，而當他通過頭來看下一行時，他就會很快轉回去以便使鼻尖再對准書頁的左邊。這種頭的擺動，學生往往意識不到，而正是這種不必要的動作往往對閱讀速度產生影響。因此，必須克服這種毛病，養成閱讀時只移動視線的習慣。
