To Pull up the Seedlings to Help Them Grow
Once upon a time, an old farmer planted a plot of rice. Everyday he
went to the field to watch the seedlings grow. He saw the young shoots
break through the soil and grow taller each day. But still, he thought
they were growing too slowly. He got impatient with the young plants.
"How could the plants grow faster?" He tossed in bed ring the night and
could not sleep. Suddenly he hit upon an idea. He had an idea not wait
for daybreak. He jumped out of the bed and dashed to the field. By the
moonlight, he began working on the rice seedlings. One by one, he pulled
up the young plants by half an inch. When he finished pulling, it was
already morning. Straightening his back, he said to himself, "What a
wonderful idea! Look, how much taller the plants have grown one night!"
With great satisfaction, he went back home. He told his son what he had
done in a triumphant tone. His son was shocked. Now the sun had risen.
The young man was heart-broken to see all the pulled-up young plants
dying.
People now use " Ba Miao Zhu Zhang" to describe the behavior of those
who are too eager to get something done only to make it worse. The idiom
is a bit like the English proverb "Haste makes waste" ------to spoil
things by excessive enthusiasm.
拨苗助长
从前，有个农夫，种了稻苗后，便希望能早早收成。每天他到稻田时，发觉那些稻
苗长得非常慢。
他等得不耐烦，心想：“怎么样才能使稻苗长得高，长很快呢?
想了又想，他终了想到一个“最佳方法”，就是将稻苗拨高几分。
经过一番辛劳后，他满意地扛锄头回家休息。心想：明天稻苗长得一定更高了。
隔天早晨．一早起身，他迫不及待地起去稻田看他的“成果”。
哪知，他跑到稻田时，却看到所有的稻苗都枯萎了。
The Old Cat
An old woman had a cat. The cat was very old; she could not run quickly, and she could not bite, because she was so old. One day the old cat saw a mouse; she jumped and caught the mouse. But she could not bite it; so the mouse got out of her mouth and ran away, because the cat could not bite it.
Then the old woman became very angry because the cat had not killed the mouse. She began to hit the cat. The cat said, "Do not hit your old servant. I have worked for you for many years, and I would work for you still, but I am too old. Do not be unkind to the old, but remember what good work the old did when they were young."

老猫
一位老妇有只猫，这只猫很老，它跑不快了，也咬不了东西，因为它年纪太大了。一天，老猫发现一只老鼠，它跳过去抓这只老鼠，然而，它咬不住这只老鼠。因此，老鼠从它的嘴边溜掉了，因为老猫咬不了它。
于是，老妇很生气，因为老猫没有把老鼠咬死。她开始打这只猫，猫说：“不要打你的老仆人，我已经为你服务了很多年，而且还愿意为你效劳，但是，我实在太老了，对年纪大的不要这么无情，要记住老年人在年青时所做过的有益的事情。”
A man was going to the house of some rich person. As he went along the road, he saw a box of good apples at the side of the road. He said, "I do not want to eat those apples; for the rich man will give me much food; he will give me very nice food to eat." Then he took the apples and threw them away into the st.
He went on and came to a river. The river had become very big; so he could not go over it. He waited for some time; then he said, "I cannot go to the rich man's house today, for I cannot get over the river."
He began to go home. He had eaten no food that day. He began to want food. He came to the apples, and he was glad to take them out of the st and eat them.
Do not throw good things away; you may be glad to have them at some other time.
【译文】
一个人正朝着一个富人的房子走去，当他沿着路走时，在路的一边他发现一箱好苹果，他说：“我不打算吃那些苹果，因为富人会给我更多的食物，他会给我很好吃的东西。”然后他拿起苹果，一把扔到土里去。
他继续走，来到河边，河涨水了，因此，他到不了河对岸，他等了一会儿，然后他说：“今天我去不了富人家了，因为我不能渡过河。”
他开始回家，那天他没有吃东西。他就开始去找吃的，他找到苹果，很高兴地把它们从尘土中翻出来吃了。
不要把好东西扔掉，换个时候你会觉得它们大有用处。

暑假的一天，表哥来到我家，他把我拖到一边，神秘地说：“咱们去溜冰怎样”？“真的？太好了！”我兴奋地答应着，心里又担心自己摔个四脚朝天闹笑话。
来到溜冰场，买了票，换上溜冰鞋。哥哥给我讲溜冰的要领：“身体稍微向前倾斜，腿往下弯一点……”哥哥边说边作示范，可我怎么也不敢挪动半步。于是哥哥又牵着我的手，慢慢向后退，而我紧紧抓着哥哥的手，嘴里还嘀咕着：“你可不能放手啊！”哥哥见状生气地说：“总是依赖我是学不会的。”我赶忙说： “不行，不要嘛。”哥哥还是放手了。我后退了几步，又抓紧了扶杆不肯放，一边像老奶奶走路一样挪动着步伐。哥哥见了，瞪了我一眼说：“这么胆小，怎么能学会呢？”我脸红了，心想：我可不是什么笨小孩，一定要勇敢点才行。想到这儿，我又一次鼓足勇气，学着哥哥的样滑了起来。谁知没滑几步“啪”一下摔了个正着，我揉了揉生疼的屁股，一骨碌爬起来，继续滑了起来。哥哥在一旁为我鼓掌加油。渐渐地，渐渐地，我好象找到了感觉，越溜越大胆，越溜越顺，乐得哥哥直夸我：“妹妹，你真棒！比我学得还快。”
现在，我溜冰的姿态可美了，不信，就来看看吧。
想起我刚才所做的事，忍不住就得哈哈大笑。
刚放学的时候，我小跑赶回家，因为今天可以看十分钟的电视。虽然只是十分钟，但是我也要好好珍惜。
跑到家门口的时候，我向往长一样，把手伸进脖子里拿钥匙。可是，怎么也找不到。我心想：一定是在书包里，我又把手伸进书包里，翻来覆去的找，可还是没有找到。我急坏了，钥匙丢了妈妈会生气的。不，决不对能让妈妈生气。
哦，我忘了，刚才在校门口的时候，我还跟孙韵玩儿了一会儿呢，钥匙一定掉在那里了。我又跑回学校，在我们玩儿的地方找了半天，可还是没找着。我急的像热锅上的蚂蚁后背上全是汗，痒痒急了，我一挠，摸到了一个硬邦邦的东西原来是钥匙，我刚要发怒的脸上露出了笑容。
回到家，我把这件事告诉了妈妈，妈妈笑的前仰后合。小朋友，你要是亲身经验这件事之后，会不会也哈哈大笑呢？
今天，我和妈妈以及姑姑她们去了佛山。
来到佛山，首先，我们来到了祖庙路。只见祖庙路的街道上车水马龙，行人车辆川流不息既热闹又拥挤。但是，这里虽然繁华，可空气太差了。汽车排出的废气，路边的服装店为了引人注目而装修的木方砖的油漆味儿，难闻极了，真令人身心烦躁。
接着我们来到旧街燎原路。这一条街道上古木参天，树木葱茏，行人稀少，空气清新，真令人神清气爽。一阵微风吹来，路旁青翠欲滴的树木的叶子微微摆动。人一看，便觉得心旷神怡。路旁的一家家物廉价美的服装店、精品店，装修得朴素自然，一点也不显得过分，摆设别致且玲珑悦目。
仅仅两条路，也有如此大的区别！一条路深受商业气味与废气的污染，而另一条路却空气清新，纯朴自然。这不都是我们人类一手所为吗？亲爱的人们，在地球母亲尚未完全绝望之时，醒悟吧!从现在开始，珍惜你身边的每一滴水珠，珍惜你身边的每一片绿色，珍惜你身边的每一把土壤，珍惜你身边的每一个美好的环境，珍惜你身边的每一阵清香，珍惜你身边的每一声欢乐的鸟啼，珍惜你身边的每一条自由自在的鱼儿。总而言之，珍惜大自然赋予人类的所有美好的一切！从今天开始，为了我们能拥有这鸟语花香的环境，为了我们的子孙万代还能拥有。学会珍惜每一片美丽的赏心悦目的绿色吧！
练字
自从读书以来，我印象最深的事就是几乎我的每个语文老师都要求我们把字写好，要求我们练字。那时虽然听老师说，但并未坚持下来，只是偶尔练一练，现在看着自己的字还真的有点后悔当初浪费了太多的时间，没有把字练好。正好今年放寒假时学校校长给我们布置寒假作业，我想就利用寒假时间来练一练字吧。
但是坚持三天后，每天练两页，到了第四天，心就有点痒了，想想还是算了吧，反正一下子字也不会写好的，但另一个声音又在耳边想起，要坚持，不要轻言放弃呀。最后经过矛盾的争扎，我还是坚持了下来。尤其是当我碰到不顺心的事情时，我就拿出纸和笔，安静的练起字来，结果什么烦心事都没了。现在练字已经成为我生活的一种习惯，如里哪天不练倒觉得好像还有一件事情没完成。经过自己的努力，现在我的字有了一定的进步，今后我还将继续坚持下去。
寒假日记一
忙完了一个学期，刚开始停下来还有点不太适应。在平时工作时，每天都和学生相处在一起，虽然他们也会调皮，也会惹我生气，但离开他们太久，心里还是惦念着他们还在想着他们在来期来时是不是会更听话了，是不是比以前有进步了等等。
回家已经有好几天了，在这几天里，我也在想这个寒假我将如何度过了，是向往年那样呆在家里看电视，或是到同学家里串串门子还是做点其他的。但一想起这些，就想起了刚放假时校长给我们布置的寒假作业，可能在别人看来很奇怪吧，校长怎么还会布置寒假作业，老师怎么还会像学生那样有寒假作业了，其实校长是让我们在寒假里多看书，多学习，为来期做好准备。其实这样也挺好的，让我们以后的工作制定目标，为了将明年的工作做得更好。现在每天在家里看看书，练练字，也感觉自己的寒假生活挺充实的。
寒假日记二
同学聚会
自从放假以后，天天都是下着绵绵细细雨，今天终于放晴了，看着这样的好天气心里特别高兴，同时还有就是今天是我们高中同学相聚的日子。
早上，吃完早餐我早早地就从家里出发了，朝着目的地我们的母校走去。一路上，思绪万千，想象着同学们的变化以及见面以后会出现什么样的情景呢等等。时间不知不觉过去了，终于来到了我们的母校。一走进校园，以前的景象历历在目，顿时心底涌上了一种亲切感，同时也发现我们的母校发生了很大的变化。首先是教学楼披上了新装，粉刷一新，还有就是食堂的改变，图书馆的建成等等，这些都是我们离开后才出现的。走在校园的林荫道上，仔细回想以前的读书生活，还真的别有一番滋味。这时只见小道上稀稀疏走着几个补课的学生，他们行色匆匆，现在时间对他们来说太宝贵了。沿着林荫小道，我来到了我们聚会的地点——以前读书的教室，这时已经有好几个同学到了，我加快脚步，大声地喊着她们的名字，这时自然有一番问候了，而且每个人脸上的惊喜之情都表露无疑。接下来在大家的笑声中同学们陆陆续续地都来了，在一片问候声后我们朝着下一个目的地走去——老师的家。我们的班主任依然如当年一样，说话特别幽默，风趣。在接下去的时间就是大家聚餐，娱乐……
这一天在一片欢笑声中结束了，同学聚会真好！

寒假日记四
春天来了
“一年之际在于春”“好的开始是成功的一半”，立春了，意味着春天来了。
春天来了，万物复苏，百花齐放，百鸟争鸣。
春天来了，春雨淅淅沥沥的下个不停，这时的它们也来感受春天的气息，凑热闹来了。它们给地里的小麦，蔬菜补足水份，让它们快快成长。俗语说“春雨贵如油”说得正是这些。你仔细看，地里的小麦，蔬菜长得多好呀，春风吹过，翻起了绿色的波浪。
春天来了，你再看河堤上的柳条也吐出了新芽，这时是春姑娘用她的巧手给大地换上了新装，给人焕然一新的感觉。
春天来了，其实最高兴的还是辛勤的人们，他们又要开始忙碌了，经过一个冬天的休整，他们一个个干劲十足。远远瞧去，只见田间三五一群的人们在高声的谈笑着。
春天来了真好！
寒假日记五
除夕
一年结束了，在除夕夜是团圆夜，家家户户都张灯结彩的，庆祝一年平安结束，新的一年好的开始。
在除夕这天，家家都忙着贴春联，我们家也不例外，而且每年家里的对联还是由我来贴的。其实这贴对联的学问也蛮大的，你去年时只要一看这对联你就会知道这一家人在新的一年里的希望和打算，也会知道在过去一年里这家人家里发生了什么喜事，你看这对联神不神呀。
在这一天最高兴的还是小朋友们，他们早早地就叫着让大人接年了，因为接完年之后就可以放烟花了。放烟花时，几个小孩子在旁边叫着，跳着，那高兴劲就甭提了，就连大人也都被他们感染了跟着叫起来。放完烟花一家人围在桌前吃团圆饭，最有趣的就是吃饺子了，而且这吃饺子还能吃到钱，谁吃到钱了那谁在新的一年里的运气将是最好的，所以大家都争着吃，看谁也抢到那个有钱的饺子，但是不管吃到的也好，没吃到的也好，这种抢着吃饺子的气氛是最难忘的……
除夕夜是最难忘的一夜！
学自行车的苦与乐
与我同龄的许多同学都会骑自行车。而我却不会。我看着他们骑着自行车，哼着歌儿，快速地在路上行驶的时候，我的心里实在难受。我为什么不能学骑自行车？不就那么点难度系数2%的动作吗？我难道就学不会？于是，我便向哥哥借了辆旧自行车学了起来。
第一次学骑时，我信心十足，昂着阔步地朝自行车走去，好像我一坐上去就能自行的呼噜噜地奔驰起来。我麻利地坐上坐垫，可是脚还没蹬，车子就倒下了，我也跌倒了。我爬起来，又重新坐上车，这次我小心了，慢慢地爬上去，双脚撑着地，左脚踩蹬子，啊！我不禁叫了起来，右脚刚一离地，车子就倒了，摔得我屁股好像分成了四瓣。我长叹了一口气：“骑自行车原来这么苦，这么难啊！”
爸爸看到我有点泄气了，便鼓励我继续骑下去，在爸爸的鼓励下，我又来到自行车旁。爸爸让我左脚在蹬子上蹬，右脚在地上跨步，增强平衡感。由于我的脚够不着蹬子，自行车左右摇晃着前进，像是走猫步。在我的坚持不懈的努力和爸爸的鼓励下，我已向成功迈出了第一步。爸爸接着让我右脚着地，左脚去蹬脚蹬，我和车子立刻像喝醉酒的大汉站立不稳。爸爸让我再试一次，我又失败了。就在这样一次一次的失败后，有一次我居然成功了，我双脚蹬着自行车，自行车平衡地前进了，我欣喜若狂高兴得连眼泪都掉下来了。爸爸向我投来赞许的目光，说：“你既然成功了第一次，肯定还会成功第二次，第三次，第四次，骑自行车就是在一次次成功中学会的。果然，又学了几次，我已经能够拐弯行驶了，我终于学会了骑自行车。

夜。
夜，静静的，月光照在大地上，仿佛是一层轻纱，又仿佛是一层浓霜。这倒使我想起李白的“床前明月光，疑是地上霜”诗句。月光是那么纯，那么真。
天上的星星，像是一个个调皮的小孩子，趁月亮妈妈不注意，悄悄地在天空中穿了几个小洞洞 。把那只一闪一闪的小眼睛望着大地，像在寻找什么。而月亮妈妈却在那里 ，跟缕缕轻云跳起了优美的舞蹈。它放射的光芒，是那么的柔和。
万物在月光的照射下，一切都变成了银白色，像是盖上了一层霜。我走进了一个童话的世界，一个美丽的世界。它是那么神奇。
河面上，倒映着那明亮的月亮。我捡起一块石头，扔向河面。河中荡漾起那层层的微波。把河面的月亮晃得高低起伏。像镰刀，又似残缺的脸盆。
地面上，灯火辉煌。家家户户点着灯火，真像天上的星星。马路上，一辆辆“俊马”在飞奔，那两只大眼睛睁得大大的为汽车照路，照得马路像白天一样。竹林里，竹子被月光照得银白银白，一阵风吹来，响起美妙的音乐。
啊！美丽的夜呀，我为你的美而感到骄傲，我永远爱你。
