英语冷战阅读
A. 谁能帮我说说美国冷战的过程用英文
The Cold War (1945–1991) was the continuing state of political conflict, military tension, and economic competition existing after World War II (1939–1945), primarily between the USSR and its satellite states, and the powers of the Western world, including the United States. Although the primary participants' military forces never officially clashed directly, they expressed the conflict through military coalitions, strategic conventional force deployments, a nuclear arms race, espionage, proxy wars, propaganda, and technological competition, e.g. the Space Race.
Despite being allies against the Axis powers, the USSR, the US, the United Kingdom and France disagreed ring and after World War II, especially about the configuration of the post-war world. At war's end, they occupied most of Europe, with the US and USSR the most powerful military forces.
The Soviet Union created the Eastern Bloc with the eastern European countries it occupied, annexing some as Soviet Socialist Republics and maintaining others as satellite states, some of which were later consolidated as the Warsaw Pact (1955–1991). The US and some western European countries established containment of communism as a defensive policy, establishing alliances (e.g. NATO, 1949) to that end.
Several such countries also coordinated the rebuilding of western Europe, especially western Germany, which the USSR opposed. Elsewhere, in Latin America and Southeast Asia, the USSR fostered communist revolutions, opposed by several western countries and their regional allies; some they attempted to roll back, with mixed results. Some countries aligned with NATO and the Warsaw Pact, yet non-aligned country blocs also emerged.
The Cold War featured periods of relative calm and of international high tension – the Berlin Blockade (1948–1949), the Korean War (1950–1953), the Berlin Crisis of 1961, the Vietnam War (1959–1975), the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962), the Soviet war in Afghanistan (1979–1989), and the Able Archer 83 NATO exercises in November 1983. Both sides sought détente to relieve political tensions and deter direct military attack, which would likely guarantee their mutual assured destruction with nuclear weapons.
In the 1980s, the United States increased diplomatic, military, and economic pressures against the USSR, which had already suffered severe economic stagnation. Thereafter, Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev introced the liberalizing reforms of perestroika ("reconstruction", "reorganization", 1987) and glasnost ("openness", ca. 1985). The Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, leaving the United States as the dominant military power, and Russia possessing most of the Soviet Union's nuclear arsenal.

The Cold War and the United States
The Cold War generally means the great diversion between the Western factions (led by the United States) and the Eastern factions (led by the Soviet Union). It started ever since the World War 2 is over and Trumen into the White House. The United States tried to suppress the growth of the Soviet Union by any causes. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, the United States were in terror because of the Soviet Union deploying nuclear warheads in the Cuban Islands. The United States responded by deploying a large amount of Task Forces around Cuba and threatening its nuclear warfare. The United States also paradropped supplies to the people in Eastern Germany. The United States ring the Cold War also developed a lot in their spaceflights technology to respond the Soviet Union's first man in space, the Americans landed two astronauts on the moon ring the Cold War.
After 1991, the Soviet Union dissolved, thus ending the Cold War. The United States' light instries grew much more than the Soviet Union ring the Cold War, but the Soviet Union mainly developed its heavy instries. Although the Cold War is very long, but I think that neither factions gained any profits ring it, the Cold War is just a simply competition of two large political factions.

The Effects of the Cold War
The United States believed that the Soviet Union's expansion threatened the developing nations of the world. So, in 1949 President Truman and Congress approved nearly $400 million for technical development programs in Latin America, Asia, and Africa. The goal of this Point Four Program was to modernize and strengthen developing nations and discourage the growth of communism.
Gorbachev's policy of Glasnost eliminated the strict censorship practiced for hundreds of years. Glasnost stands for openness, and Soviet citizens were now allowed to speak openly about their country's problems. Perestroika, or "restructuring," was Gorbachev's attempt to end the inefficiency and corruption in government.
The United States and other Western nations decided to form alliances against possible Soviet attempts to extend their sphere of influence. In April 1949 the United States signed the North Atlantic Treaty. Members agreed that an attack on one of them would be considered an attack on all of them. The Soviets later formed an opposing alliance known as The Warsaw Pact. Because of the arms race many countries in the world now own nuclear weapons.

《 All These Years》
歌手:Tori Amos
excuse me but can i be you for a while
my dog won\'t bite if you sit real still
i got the anti-christ in the kitchen yellin\' at me again
yeah i can hear that
been saved again by the garbage truck
i got something to say you know but nothing comes
yes i know what you think of me you never shut up
yeah i can hear that
but what if i\'m a mermaid
in these jeans of his with her name still on it
hey but i don\'t care
cause sometimes i said sometimes i hear my voice and it\'s been
here
silent all these years
so you found a girl who thinks really deep thoughts
what\'s so amazing about really deep thoughts
boy you best pray that i bleed real soon
how\'s that thought for you
my scream got lost in a paper cup
you think there\'s a heaven where some screams have gone
i got 25 bucks and a cracker do you think it\'s enough
to get us there
but what if i\'m a mermaid
in these jeans of his with her name still on it
hey but i don\'t care
cause sometimes
i said sometimes
i hear my voice and it\'s been
here
silent all these..
years go by will i still be waiting
for somebody else to understand
years go by if i\'m stripped of my beauty
and the orange clouds raining in my head
years go by will i choke on my tears
till finally there is nothing left
one more casualty
you know we\'re too
easy
easy
easy
well i love the way we communicate
your eyes focus on my funny lip shape
let\'s hear what you think of me now
but baby don\'t look up
the sky is falling
your mother shows up in a nasty dress
it\'s your turn now to stand where i stand
everybody lookin\' at you
here take hold of my hand
yeah i can hear them
but what if i\'m a mermaid
in these jeans of his with her name still on it
hey but i don\'t care
cause sometimes
i said sometimes
i hear my voice
i hear my voice
i hear my voice
and it\'s been
here
silent all these years
i\'ve been here
silent all these years
silent all these
silent all these years
